# Molotov grenade: creates area of fire that slows players crossing through it
# Decoy grenade: emits fake weapon firing sounds to confuse enemies about your position
# Many changes to weapons, as well as new weapons
# Beta in September or October (Unconfirmed)
# Gameplay has elements similar to both CS:S and CS 1.6
what lj said. this is going to get some shitty feedback within the competitive scene. although im all for change for the better.. the players that are used to the 1.6 engine will complain if its on a source engine or anything other then the hl engine. same goes for source players.. assuming source still has a competitive 5v5 scene anymore. if this rumor indeed is true which im actuallly doubting because i would have heard of this from some of the top 1.6 players.. it will be interesting to see it develop.
ps sorry for the quick shitty reply as i have to get to work. ill edit later.
I never even played Counter Strike! I looked up on Wiki and seemed pretty old... Still, I'm more hyped over Twisted Metal and such over another FPS. I'd be interested to know the difference between CoD and CS. :O Seeing kommi getting banned so much also makes my heart break.

Uhh I don't like these.
You'd have to be borderline retarded to not realize that there are things in CS:S that would benefit 1.6. Sure, 1.6 is certainly better for competitive play, but that's not to say that it's perfect.
How could you not like an open beta? Derp a chance for the community to give meaningful feedback, that's bad.

I don't know but I am kind of excited for it. I think source would of been a great game if Valve developed it a lot better.
Source wasn't meant to be a successor to 1.6, it was mostly just for showing off the beginnings of the Source engine.

I'm quite positive it's true, as Valve has been flying in top CS:S players to play test it, who have then been releasing information. They haven't been asking any 1.6 players, who knows why. It's supposedly built on the latest version of the Source engine.

another gimmick to attempt to get people to move on from 1.6 rather than improving the game that has been played massively for 10+ years
Improving on 1.6 at this point would mean an overhaul of the engine AKA a new game.

thats just stupid. if this is supposed to be based on competitive play then why fly in cs:s players? (nothing against any source players at all) 1.6 has been WAY more successful then source as far as tournaments go. whatever i guess we will see what happens.

What I'm guessing is that it's because they'd be more used to the mechanics of the Source engine. Who knows though. Perhaps they'll fly in 1.6 players at a later date.

You don't even play 1.6 rofl, look at your last post.
1.6 is more successful in tournaments because of the game mechanics, enough said.
Not sure if I'm excited for this. A cheap tactic such as the two new grenades just seems to make the gameplay a little less appealing IMO. And if it's based off Source engine, not only will my computer probably not run it, but I don't think I'll enjoy it as much. I'll just have to wait and see.
they really should just add on to what 1.6 already has to offer. promod was a good idea, but I think lacked some of the raw mechanics and overall feel from the original game
