why change what has worked for so long? the idea of making a competitive/pro version of 1.6 sounds good, but there is always going to be negative feedback. adding on to the game as far as new weapons go doesnt seem like a good idea. i honestly dont see a need for a promod version of 1.6 seeing as its fine the way it is imo. the plugins/mods are enough to make it tournament friendly (esea plugin for example).

Personally, I think CS 1.6 would get more popular if there were more serious leagues to play in. Ever since CAL went down, the decline of players emerged. CS 1.6 is meant for competitive gameplay, which I understand that's what they are focusing on in this new game, which is good, but adding a bunch of other stuff, I don't really like. Seriously, if they had more leagues to play in, the game would be more popularized.

american cs has gone down the pooper. its either cevo, or esea. i miss all of the oldschool teams/players. 3d, tec, zex, rival, united5 ;_; its all about navi, fragx, moscow5, sk and such nowadays

Exactly, it's all because CAL vanished. Bring CAL back, and many players may come back, as well as new ones.

doubt CAL is coming back at all. i used to be an AC admin there. the backend of that site was fcking atrocious. super understaffed too. but i do agree that once CAL took a shit that american CS took a huge dump. :/

Hardly anything was released about the game so how can you say this? It's not going to be "CSS, NOW WITH TWO NEW GRENADES $60 PLZ". Also how bad is your computer if it can't run the Source engine? My friend runs source games off his 3GHz Pentium 4.

Yeah, European 1.6 is still doing pretty nicely though.

Pretty much unrelated but I'd like to point out that Valve is awesome and doesn't charge 60 bucks for their games (8

I'm saying that it just takes away originality form the game. Yes of course a new game is going to have different stuff. But when you play a game for 9 years straight, you get the feeling that change is bad and you don't want to ruin a great game. And my computer is about 6 years old.

there needs to be a more amateur league for cs. not everyone is as good as they used to be (most people who want to get back into things) and all the leagues now have stupid good teams in open that have been playing 8+ years

The game is far from being released... all of you are assuming things about the dynamics of the game. I doubt it will be anything like the source engine and I doubt it will be anything like 1.6 (I played both competitively) but I'm hoping it will replace both and become the premier competitive FPS that it could be. (fingers crossed)
