I doubt it. It's Nintendo. They can make ridiculous ideas play decently.

I'm interested to see how this will end up and all though.

EDIT: Except Virtual Boy. But I don't count that.

That is really a sad comment. They seem to be making lots of money off of Nintendo products, whether they are worth it or not. They could care less if a game is "good" as long as it makes money. There's a difference between failing at making a good game and failing at selling pathetically addictive games. As long as they keep making money, they honestly don't care about the quality of their games. Not to say they're bad, but the quality of any game isn't in question unless they're losing sales, which they're not.

Anyway, the screen on the controller sounds crazy. It seems like it could be a bad thing. And a controller+screen=potential room to start hacking the controller like crazy. It's much easier to replace a controller than an entire console, so the opportunity for hackers to start modding stuff is going to rise quickly. But knowing nintendo they take any project that seems shaky and turn it into something you know will be good. I'm definitely on the fence here, we'll see what Nintendo has in store.

you gotta respect Nintendo's desire to do something really different in the hardware department. I get the feeling this stuff will make the good third-party devs shy away again, though. I'm gonna hold off on buying an 8th-gen console until they've been out for at least a couple years and see how everything turns out.

I wonder if they're making a move too early. This generation of consoles has a longer life cycle, and even if the new system is more powerful than the PS3 and 360, I'm sure once Sony and Microsoft unveil their new consoles, the new Nintendo one will go back to being the runt. Still, we don't have enough details so it's had to say atm.
