    Highly Highly Important Question

I'm low on money and I want a wireless PS2 controller. No ordering off the internet is allowed.

So I check out Game Stop and their cheapest wireless is $19.99. The problem: It's a MadCatz controller, and I seem to remember hearing that MadCatz has a bad reputation as a crappy company. But maybe that's just my imagination.

So, what should I do guys? Is a MadCatz Wireless PS2 controller reliable and worth $20?

Why no ordering off the net? You know you can find one cheaper, if only slightly used.

Solution: Don't use a wireless controller. Any third-party one is going to give you terrible lag. It might be as bad as 50ms! Since there are no first-party wireless controllers for the PS2, just don't use one.

            Tasselfoot: Hardy har har.

Tokzic: They have lag. All wireless controllers, even the Wavebird, have lag. You just don't notice it because your reflexes aren't as fine-tuned as mine. Trust me, when you're playing a shmup, even 10ms of lag from a wireless controller is fatal.

Oh, I'm not saying it doesn't have lag, I'm just saying its lag is so minor that you can work around it and still be just as good as if you were using a wired controller.

I'm now used to the 360 controller's speed, so Wavebirds seem slow to me now and consequently I'm screwed for the SSBM tournament I'm preparing for.

                  Re: Highly Highly Important Question

I'm not planning on play any games that require much uber-reflex (unless at some point in my life I pick up a Devil May Cry game).

Look. I have a rather awesome and large home theater. It's in a big room. Big projector screen. Lots of speakers built into the walls and a couple on the ceiling and a rather large subwoofer. With the controller I have right now, it barely reaches the closest seat from where the PS2 is hooked up to the reciever. I can either get an extension cord, which I have a feeling my parents will groan over when they're walking around the house while I play, or a wireless controller. Right now, the only games I'll be playing are Shadow of the Colossus and Disgaea (both of which are being lended to me tommorrow by a friend). Nothing reflex-needy. But....

Look. How laggy are we talking here? Is this, like, Superman 64 laggy?

I have some Pelican one. It glows and changes colors and stuff. It's lasted me a couple of years, but I don't normally use it. I'm not sure how the lag is either, but I know it was around $20 as well.

I used a wireless MadCatz DDR pad once.

It was absolute ****. There was at least .3s of lag involved, we're talking even the worst newbie would notice. If the actual controller is any bit like it, well...It's not worth it.

We've established MadCatz are teh suck. Why don't you just get some 2nd party controller with a longer cord?

A second party controller would mean you made it, no?

I hear MadCatz controllers are built pretty solid.

I had a MadCatz steering wheel thing for N64, used it for Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing and crap like that. It was okay, not bad for a steering wheel.

Then I bought a MadCatz controller for the PS1(or 2, I forget), it broke in 2 days. I was allowed to switch every time for 30 days until I got one that worked, and I must've switched about 8 times(two of em lasted a bit), and after that the warrenty thing expired, and I was stuck with a broken controller.

That should kill your thoughts of ever buying any MadCatz controllers. :/
