Chopper, let me spell this out for you one more time.

      I am playing MASTER NINJA.

This is the difficulty that Team Ninja added to NGB because Very Hard on NG wasn't hard enough.

It is also worth noting that Hard on NGB is at least as difficult, if not more difficult, than Very Hard on NG. Master Ninja is two significant difficulty jumps above NGB Hard.

Is this the hardest thing I could do in NGB? No. Several of the missions on MN are generally considered harder than anything in MN story mode. Do I care? Not really, as I find the missions boring, and a lot of them tend to be excersizes in luck. I will probably play through them on normal, simply to have a go at Giants of the Underworld and Eternal Legends, but I don't care about them nearly enough to actually become good at them.

This all being said, kindly go and get some idea of what you are talking about. Thank you.

Ha so I was right. Sorry, I never said that Ninja Gaiden Black was made for that, my friend drew did. Truly he thinks Ninja Gaiden is harder because he owns that one and I own Ninja Gaiden Black. To tell you the truth I have never played Ninja Gaiden and from the sounds of it the game is for pussy losers. Ninja Gaiden Black to me though was harder then hell to beat on MN and sorry for the problems. Drew is aloud on my account so if you find something dumb its him most likely lol. But ya truly I would not even compare myself to your playing, I am still on chapter 6 sadly on MN. But ya I just started reading your notes and it helps to show me what to look forward to in the future. So thanks for this and I hope you continue typing these.

Yet more playing for my tortured soul.

          Chapter 12:

Platform puzzle in the arena. The first time I did this it took me forever to figure it out. Now I have the solution completely ingrained in my skull, so I get it over with quickly. Then I save, and return to the arena for the 120 BERZERKEREER fiend challenge.

Berserkers are the most difficult enemy in the game - they have as much HP as many bosses, and it is very difficult to get through their defense in the first place. Furthermore, they have absolutely devestating distance attacks that they will nail you with if you fight anything else. This challenge has you fighting three at once. Luckily for anyone playing this game, berserkers have been deliberately coded to ignore you if you get them off the camera. If this weren't the case, then the player would be absolutely screwed if they were ever fighting more than one. One berserker is a hand full, but can be handled if kept close. If you have two berserkers, then one will run back and nail you with their massive distance attacks that make it impossible to mount any sort of attack on the other. And if you get three on screen at once, then you need to run, and fast.

Fortunately, this challenge has a couple of platforms on other side of the arena where you cannot be hit as long as you keep one berserker on screen (this is because the first on screen berserker prioritizes close range attacks, and only additional on screen berserkers will start using their distance attacks). All I had to do was stand on this platform and spam Dabi UTs for forty minutes. Yay, fiend challenge over Spirit of the Devils come to me :>

So then I save, and the very next room I walk into is the 120 imp fiend challenge at the bottom fo the Imperial Stairs. I whip out my Unlabored Flawlessness and easily UT chain through all of them in six or seven minutes. Yay, fiend challenge over Life of the Thousand Gods come to me :>

Next is Kitetsu Fiend Ryu. This guy sucks. He blocks everything ever. I eventually resort to spamming UF wall attacks on him, just as I did in VH. I now have the proper technique to fight him for real, but I didn't then >_>

Cavern time. Break wall ghost fish Vigoorian Flail gogogo --> Ice Cave Izuna Drop three shadow imps --> flaming hellslash four ogres --> tons of shadow imps on the way to the Vigoorian Shield (fun battles, actually) --> two more ogres flaming hellslash etc etc --> lava gauntlet ouch lava hurts a lot on this difficulty --> five more ogres flaming hellslash gogoog --> wall run --> three more ogres flaming etc etc --> teeter totter hidden room chest ghost fish vigoor etc etc --> put ore in magma --> backtrack to cog --> Yeti fight.

The Yeti thing has shadow imp minions. I Izuna Drop one and then essence chain the others when they appear. The yeti thing I take out with jump +xxxx with the Unlabored Flawlessness. ART OF THE INAZUMA THANK GOD YES YES YES.

Then I go back through the magma gauntlet to fight the fire worm. Every attack of his takes off a third of my life. But that is ok, since every flaming hellslash I get on him takes off a third of his life. He is soon dead, and I go through another fire gauntlet thing. Although an absolute bitch my first time through the game, it is a piece of cake now.

Smaugan (dragon boss of chapter 12) more like jump+xxxx with 5% Unlabored Flawlessness three times. I didn't feel like fighting him properly, as it is a boring fight that I just wanted to get over with. Life of the Thousand Gods yayayayayayayayaya.

          Chapter 13

120 flying stinger thing fiend challenge more like Inazuma --> chain Dabi UTs from the top yay all done me gets a shiny Talisman of Rebirth :>

Now I have to go back through chapter ten. Stinger bugs + pill bugs --> ghost fish (v etc etc) --> shadow imps --> shadow imps + pill bugs --> ghost fis etc etc --> Save --> AHHH LASER CRAB FIENDS RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN THEY HAVE FULL HEALTH NOW, MAKING THESE FIGHTS TWICE AS RETARDED AS BEFORE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN --> kk back on the streets of Tairon --> Drawbridge kill three ogres for a Talisman of Rebirth that I can't carry and thus leave on the ground --> teleporters --> TRUE DRAGON SWORD YAY --> Vigoorian Flail (gogogog) Fiend Ryu.

This guy sucks, but I eventually beat him by spamming the ->y(hold)yy combo. He leaves another talisman of rebirth on the ground for me.

Save. AWAKENED ALMA MOMMY HELP ME. Let's see here. Her throw now takes off 60% of my health. Her big orb takes off about 40%. Her little orbs take off 10%, but are almost impossible to dodge. I Inazuma her minions, wait for her to land, and gleaming blade her as she charges me. If I do this right, she takes about 15% damage and I take about 25% damage. Then I can heal up and repeat. The problem with this strategy is surviving long enough to pull off the gleaming blade enough times - the timing on the gleaming blade is fairly exact too. Also, sometimes she will choose to throw you immediately after you successfully get off a gleaming blade, in which case you are completely helpless to dodge it. Anyway, I was expecting this battle to take me several hours to get by, but I get it on my third or fourth try after using one talisman of rebirth, two great spirit elixers, and a couple of small elixers.

Pyramid more like spam Dabi wall attacks followed by chaining Dabi UTs. Yay chapter over.

          Chapter 14:

Go to teleporter, get ready for shadow imp + mutated Vigoorian soldiers + laser crab fiends. Not this time. Now I fight Unlabored Flawless Fiend Ryu. Oh joy. I always wanted an enemy that could kill me in one hit when I got him to less than 25% health. In this battle I develop a way to roll into an Izuna Drop that goes through the defense of the Fiend Ryu AI far more often than anything else. The battle takes me a few tries, but only because I don't want to use more than a couple of potions.

From this point on, until the Clusterfuck of Insanity, I need you to insert this between every paragraph: GHOST FISH A X XXX A X XXX A X XXX A X XXX A X XXX VIGOORIAN FLAIL GOGOGOGOGOGOGO

On to the labyrinth. The only real challenge in here is the fight against the laser crab fiend and the galas while ghost fish are present. I immediately run down and Ripping Thunder the galas a couple of times, and then inazuma to kill a bunch of fishies. Then I chain UTs until the end of the battle. Note that this is what happened on my third try - I was spammed by ghost fishies and subsequently killed by the crab fiend the times before. Also, this is where I first noticed just how huge of a life boost the big enemies get in Master Ninja. Every enemy got more health in this mode, but the big enemies (ogres, laser crabs, galas, etc) seem to have nearly twice as much health as before. This is really, really annoying when fighting against the laser crabs.

Anyway, The rest of the labyrinth is just ghost fish. I get the last key, save, and then run to the door past the retardo laser crab + galas + ghost fish battle to get to the Spirit Doku fight.

Spirit Doku isn't that hard. I basically fight him like I fight the regular Doku, with the Lunar and XY while keeping my distance. The difference is that all of his attacks are far more devestating now. He has fishie minions too, which I Inazuma and use the essence from to Dabi UT him. He goes down after a few tries, and I only popped a couple of potions too.

          Chapter 15:

Save. Go to clearing to fight laser crab + shadow imp battle. I always die here the first time I get here, and this is no exception. The second time I take care of it easily. Then I run to Murasama's shop to restock my items, and grab the key to the Core off the dead body. Core time!

Floor one: One laser crab fiend + a bunch of shadow imps. Easy shit.

Floor two: Two laser crab fiends + four ogres, fought one laser crab fiend + two ogres at a time. This would be cake if it was in a larger room, but the size of this room makes getting away from the ogres to fight the laser crab nearly impossible. And if you ignore the laser crab, he nails you with his layl 30% damage lasers from off the screen. This room took me a bunch of tries to get through with minimal potion use, and my winning tactic eventually ended up being running around and taking pot shots with the Dabi's ->Y attack. When I got the chance, I would flaming hellslash the crab fiend, although this didn't come up to much. Eventually I was victorious.

Floor three: Four berserkers, fought two at a time (although if you get one off screen it will ignore you). I like fighting these guys using the X+A --> A --> Ripping Thunder combo, but it is really hard to pull off in this room since it is so small. I have to be REALLY careful, as these guys do ridiculous ammounts of damage on this difficulty, but I eventually make it through.

Floor four: Got here, died, realized it was late and I was tired and needed sleep. I saved and went home (note that I save between every level of the Core).

          Next Time:

          Floor four of the Core!
The Clusterfuck of Insanity on the top of the Core!
Treking back to Tairon to pick up the two Talismans of Rebirth I left lying on the ground!
          The Vigoorian Emperor!
          The Dark Disciple!

On a side note, I am starting to get just a bit burned out on this game (pretty understandable, since I have now put 80+ hours into a game with a story mode that can be beaten the first time through in 15). It is unlikely I will play the missions at all - once I beat Master Ninja, I will most likely be completely done with this game.

Last night was the FINAL AUDITION

              Floor Four of the Core:

Three shadow imps, two ogres, and two berserkers. Izuna drop a shadow imp as it spawns --> essence chain the other two shadow imps --> flaming hellslash/->Y with the Dabi the ogre while keeping the berserker off screen --> X+A, A Ripping Thunder the berserker. This final step is somewhat difficult due to the small size of the room, but is much easier for me now (when I am awake) as opposed to last time I played (when I was quite tired).

              The Clusterfuck of Insanity:

12 shadow imps, three at a time to start things off. I Izuna Drop one, essence chain to kill a few more, then whip out my dabi and UT essence chain the rest. Yay I get hit maybe once.

Nicchae (Alma clone) time. She is exactly like Alma 1, but the small area you fight her in makes dodging her fireballs very difficult. She also likes to spend a good chunk of time on the ground. Most of my damage to her comes from flying swallows that I nail her with as she is doing her swooping charge, although this does not knock her down. I do catch her in a couple of other flying swallows, which do know her down, and allow me to perform the Blade of Nitrii for a quarter of her life bar. I forgot to mention that she has shadow imp minions, but I just Inazuma them when they appear. This girl gave me a lot of trouble this time around, whereas she was the easiest boss in this string on Very Hard - she dodges the flying swallow FAR more on Master Ninja.

9 shadow imps while Marbus shoots fireballs at me. I just Izuna Drop one and essence chain the others. Marbus gives an audio cue when he is about to throw a fireball (a laugh), so avoiding them isn't too difficult.

Ishtaros (whipbitch) time. The first time I got to this girl on Very Hard I was slaughtered. Her attacks are fast and vicious, and she dodges pretty much everything you try to hit her with. Several of her combos can only be avoided if one roll cancels twice in a row on the last few hits, since she will nail you with a guard breaking move immediately followed by a whip smash for damage. The hardest part of this fight is hurting her, as she is only vunerable in three instances. The first, and most common case is when she does her claw swipe --> kick combo. If you roll out of the way of the claw swipe, and are far enough away that she whiffs the kick, then you can hit her with XXYY immediately after the kick. The second is when she does her charge kick from a distance. Just roll out of the way at the last second, and then XXYY. Finally, she will occasionally swing around the level with her whip arm, which allows one to charge a gleaming blade and nail her with it as she lands for masive damage. This might not sound too bad, but the timing on all of these is very unforgiving. If you mistime and whiff an attack on her, then you will be hit for massive damage, and she will suffer none. Still, she was probably easier overall than Nicchae this time around, since I half knew how to fight her this time.

Marbus aka flying Satan guy. This battle has a definite rythm to it. He usually starts by summoning a shadow imp, which I can nail with an Izuna Drop as it spawns. The ID completes fast enough that I can nail the next one he summons with it too. If I screw up then I can usually use the essence from the first one to kill the second, and so on. Other than dealing with his summons, this battle is just an excersize in dodging his fireballs (which he now delays in a fashion to nail you unless your roll jumps are quite percise) and waiting for him to do his barrel roll dive thing. Dodge that move, and then gleaming blade him. If I ever got overrun by his summons, I Inzauma'd them (a Talisman of Rebirth that I blew on Nicchae refilled my ninpo for this fight. Soon enough he was dead, and I didn't even use a potion on him (although I had used five small potions, one large one, and a talisman of rebirth on the prior fights).

And so, after many tries, the Clusterfuck of Insanity was defeated! I was quite happy at this point

              Going back to Tairon:

It was an epic journey filled with hardship, death, and drama. I traveled to the drawbridge that had seen so many battles, and I found that the talisman of rebirth that I had ripping from the cold hands of my slaughtered foes so long ago was still there. I grabbed it, and then headed to my local shop of ninjatastic stuff to refill EVERYTHING. Then back to the top (aka bottom) of the Core.

              The Vigoorian Emperor:

Dodge lasers of ouch we take off a third of your life gogogogo XXYYY XXYYY yay shoulder dead other shoulder XXYYY XXYYY yay shoulder dead dodge lasers keep dodging dodge dodge dodge XXYYY XXYYY XXYYY XXYYY torso yayayayayayayay dead dead dead. On a side note, these lasers are a bitch to dodge. Although there are only three patterns, and each is fairly easy to dodge when you know what pattern is being thrown at you, it is incredibly difficult to recognize the pattern and position yourself correctly when you are close to the guy (ie attacking him). Thus, it took quite a few tries to take him down without using a potion (since three mistakes = dead ninja).

Second form is a bit easier. Arrow arrow revolution the head until he spews skulls, then VIGOORIAN FLAIL GOGOGOOGOGOG the skulls, then Inazuma before the head catchs you in his grab of lmao you are dead. Repeat a bunch until guy is dead.

              Chapter 16:

Uh oh platforming. Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> Wall jump up shaft --> Jump to ledge --> Dark dragon blade --> jump + wall run to ledge --> wall run up to next ledge --> jump to pole --> jump to pole --> jump to pole --> jump to wall, wall-run, jump to ledge --> jump to pole --> jump to ledge --> wall run up to next ledge --> wall run up to edge to shimmy along --> pull self up to ledge --> SHIT THE PLACE IS COLLAPSING HURRY UP --> Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> BLIND LEAP OFF FRONT OF LEDGE --> hey there is a platform here cool --> Jump to ledge --> Jump to ledge --> hey der's Racheal time to get out of here.

Oh, and if you screw up once during any of that you get to do it all over again.

Dark Disciple time. This fight is a blast, since you are free to blow all your healing on it. I tear into him with my True Dragon Sword, dodging his attacks as best as I can, but not worrying too much. Fighting this guy is one of the best pure sword fights the game has to offer. The only annoying part is his charge throw, which on Master Ninja seems to have its range extended to about half the battle arena, and does a cool 45% damage to you (unless he chains a sword swipe into a throw, in which case bye bye 65% of your health).

YAY GAME COMPLETE I AM TOTALLY AWESOME AND A MAMMAL

Afterwards I decided to have a run at the first chapter of MN again. I got to the first save point on my first try using nothing but the Lunar and fighting normally (ie no wall attacks), although there were some very close calls. It was fun too, and made me wish there was another, still more difficult level of Story Mode to work my way through. Missions could provide me with that challenge, but they are boring, and won't be holding my interest for very long.
