Gah, I should have figured that >_>

I played a couple missions after beating Hard, but jumped back into story mode almost immediately. I will see if I can rouse up more interest in them after beating Master Ninja.

If nothing else, I NEED to experience the Giants of the Underworld missions.

Last level is a cakewalk, and final boss is a pushover.
Although chapter 16 is certainly a pushover on Ninja Gaiden, I'm betting he is talking about chapter 15 instead (I certainly thought it was the last chapter my first time through).

Marbus is an absolute (!@#! when you aren't familiar with him, but is definitely one of the easier bosses once you have experience with him. Same goes for both forms of the Vigoorian Emperor.

That being said, if all else fails, just remember that Flying Swallow spells victory against everything ever in Ninja Gaiden (although this has been fixed in Black).

On a side note, chapter 15 was easily the hardest part of my Very Hard run. The berserker rooms in the Core, along with the Ishtaros/Nicchae/Marbus clusterfuck of insanity at the top of the Core almost drove me to tears.
Yea, thats where I probably am. I know for a fact that I haven't fought the vigoorian emperor yet. I was gonna bring my ninja gaiden back out this week and start it up again, but I'm lending it to a friend for a little while, and I have no where to play it, aka I'm too lazy to set up my xbox on a tv.

Yay, got to play more last night:

        Chapter 6:

Greater cat fiends are bitches. They dodge everything EVER - they are even worse than shadow imps in this catagory. I can still handle them, but I have to be extremely careful, and they are very much capable of killing me in the time it takes me to blink (uppercut from one cat followed immediately by a flying swallow from another kills me at full health).

The real problem is the scythe fiends, though. These guys are unique in this game, as they fly, and all of their attacks can hit you in the air. This means that you are not safe using the Izuna drop to take out greater cat demons or red ninjas that appear with them. Furthermore, these guys are difficult to hit and combo well unless one is using the Lunar, which isn't a good weapon to use against the enemies these guys appear with (cat demons and red ninjas). Luckily, they only appear in this chapter, and no where else.

The archive fiend challenge is completely ridiculous - 80 greater cat demons and 40 red ninjas, both of which can kill you with some attacks in a couple of hits. However, I discovered a method to kill them all that involved sniping the red ninja with the windmill shuriken from the top balcony, and then doing everything I could to play with the AI of the cat demons until they jumped to the bottom floor. I would then jump from the balcony to the second floor, and charge up a Lunar UT. Usually I would finish charging right before all three enmies arrived, and I would slaughter them all. Then I would just roll back a little, and repeat the UT as long as I could. When the enemy spawn staggered, I ran back to the top balcony and commenced sniping. This certainly wasn't safe, and I had to pull some pretty nifty stuff with the Lunar when the enemies didn't die like planned, but it did get me through the challenge.

Mass shadow imps are a pain in the ass at this point in the game, as you do not have enough health to afford any mistakes against them. This is made even worse by the chain room at the bottom of the cave, as the chains get in the way of all the AI scripts that I am used to, making for a very bizarre fight. The only way to get around this is to fight near the walls, but then the camera wonks out.

Oh, and I hate the zombies. I really, really hate the zombies. They are easily the most mindnumbingly boring enemy to fight in the game. Run to a corner, charge UT, unleash, repeat 20 times. The archers are also ridiculously annoying, since they fire arrows so fast. I had a pretty close call when going up the path to the save point after getting the Holy Grail. I ran out of incindery shurikens, and was low on health, with no potions left (the zombies in the holy grail room kept chain grabbing me, and the room is so far from the save point, and takes so long to do, that I didn't feel like reloading to conserve supplies). I was forced to make a series of tricky wall jumps and rolls past the three zombie archers up the spiral pathway, and by some miracle I was successful, and was able to get to the save point.

Bone dragon was completely laughable by this point in my gameplay development. I beat him easily without using any form of potion.

        Chapter 7:

LotTG YES YES YES. Then climb back up to the monastary and upgrade my weapons. Then I go back to the Holy Grail room and do the 120 zombie challenge there. The level two Vigoorian Flails makes this completey trivial, since its UT can usually kill three at a time. I just took care of all the archers with Ripping Thunder + Armlet of Potency (kills the archers in one go), and when they were all dead I charged UTs in the corners and unleashed them until everyone was dead. ANOTHER LotTG YAYAYAYAYAYAY.

More zombie archers. More ripping thunder. Collapsing bridge. Fun encounter down here, but I don't waste my time with it, and run straight to the Red Eye room. This room is retarded, and I get it over with as soon as I can. Then Blue Eye room, where I easily refill health lost from being forced to step on spikes in teh Red Eye room. Then tentacle monster returns.

And kills me in less than 30 seconds. This is why I didn't bother with the encounters after the collapsing bridge >_>

You see, this room is tiny, and thus you are constantly forced to go near the walls. However, the camera goes haywire when near the walls. This wouldn't be so much of a problem, except that this guy has THREE fucking greater cat demons as minions, who have no problem fucking you up when the camera is spazzing and you have no idea what is going on. Furthermore, he starts spewing fireballs almost immediately after the battle begins. I actually died to him twice, and had to use several potions the time I did beat him. I feel ashamed :<

More zombie archers. More zombies Vigoorian Flail gogogo. GHOST FISH YAY XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X k all dead. Statue, skull key MORE GHOST FISH XXX B X XXX B X VIGOORIAN FLAIL GGOGOGOGOGOGO

Alma. Died to her a few times, then realized I was too tired to keep playing. I will get back to her later, although I will note that she seems much harder to knock down now than she was in Very Hard. Her minions have been replaced with shadow imps, but they aren't much of a problem, since the camera for this fight is pretty cooperative, and Alma ends up killing them herself half the time anyway.

Ninja Gaiden Black rules! Ok the trick is if you are having bad problems run up the wall and use the slash tech. When ever I am really low on health I just use that. It works really it does just don't try it on anything with a gun....it really hurts.

                  More playing, more pain.

                  Alma:

                  AKJS;LKJDSLFKMSDC:OJIQW#E[PJF){@#$(WJ:LKNSD:LNNC:OISMN

I've never had much trouble with this bitch. Until now. It wouldn't be so bad, except nothing ever hits her EVER. Furthermore, her MN AI likes to keep her on the ground, where she is nearly invunerable to any means of attack that you have at your disposal. This means that that battle takes even longer, which means that you have to survive more energy ball and pillar waves (easy enough, but when one hit takes off a third of your health then any mistake is huge).

The time I did beat her, we were both down to the point where we would die in one hit. I had used all my health potions (although I still had a Talisman of Rebirth sitting in my inventory, I was NOT going to use it), and all of her minions were dead. I then became locked in gamer's zen. I WAS NOT GOING TO LOSE. My friends playing games on the other TV even paused their game to watch my fight, remarking at the sudden level of intensity it had reached. Several minutes passed in this state, where I was dodging her attacks like a possessed man, and then I found myself right under her, and was forced to activate my Inferno ninpo for a quick jolt of invulnerability to avoid her energy pillar throw thing. The initial fire from the ninpo knocked her out of the air, and the Inferno projectile itself killed her

                  Chapter 8:

Looks like all the regular army dudes here were replaced with the mechanized army dudes found in Very Hard chapter 9. These guys are an absolute blast to fight. Unlike every other enemy in the game, these guys stay back and wait for you to come to them. And for good reason - these guys have machine guns. Except for the ones with rocket launchers. But none of this is new to anyone who has played this chapter on lower difficulties.

Note that I said these guys are now mechanized. That means that when you do get to them, they kick the shit out of you. If you try to be clever and flying swallow them in an attempt to avoid their machine gun fire, then they catch you on their bayonets and blast you at point blank with a grenade. Bye bye half of your health. These guys are also fully capable of countering any ground based strikes with an INSANELY fast throw that grabs you as your sword is about to come down, and takes off about 25% of your health (let me note that at this stage in the game, I consider it a godsend when an attack does this little damage >_>). The only time it is really safe to attack these guys is when they are reloading their machine guns, although they are fully capable of doing a bayonet thrust to parry your sword strike. This is ok though, as this you recover slightly faster than them, and can XYY to break their guard or ground them, followed by death in the form of Izuna Drop or Fiend Sealer.

Just hope that their rocket launcher friends don't interupt you in the middle of doing this with their 40% health rockets of ouch ^_^

Fighting two berserkers to get a LotGs and the Dabilahro and a JotDS was also fun. It took a few tries, but I did eventually figure out everything I need to know about the Wind Path - jump on head - Ripping Thunder + Armlet of Potency combo to take them out.

Aside from that, laser copters were added to the first and last encounters here, which is always annoying. Yay for windmill shuriken spam!

As a final note, I couldn't stop remarking on how ninjatastically badass Ryu's fully animated blocking of machine gun fire from a helicopter was.

                  Chapter 9:

More mechanized army soldiers. I said earlier that these guys are a blast to fight, and I mean it. It is mostly because you have to be constantly moving to weave through their bullets and to get into a position where you can attack them. Rocket launcher soldiers just make this dodging game all that more enjoyable.

The machine gun nests before the warehouse were a pain, since the ground soldiers kept noticing me before I could kill them, and rocket spammed me to death a few times.

The warehouse itself was fairly boring, as always. The laser helicopters were a pain in the fucking ass, as always. The army dudes right before the keycard room surprised me, as always. Nothing too bad though.

The fight in the train area had a noticable increase in difficulty on MN. Although you fight the same enemies as on VH, the mechanized soldiers are far faster to react in MN, and thus throw almost constantly. I actually blew my Talisman of Rebirth here, and I didn't restart simply because the warehouse is such a pain.

The Tanks took me a few tries. I kept screwing up and getting nailed by rockets, or letting the machine gunner come back up, at which point I would pretty much be locked into taking a good amount of damage before I would be able to fire an explosive arrow to make him go away. Still, nothing too hard.

The Helicopter took me a few tries, simply because I refused to use a health potion (I had a bunch, but the helicopter is too much of a wimp to warrent using any).

The communications tower now has more rocket launcher dudes on it, and they killed me a bunch. So I decided to kill all but one of the ground dudes, and then destroy two thirds of the spotlights on the tower before killing the last ground dude (killing this guy is what makes the rocket launcher guys on the tower spawn). I then killed the last few spotlights in one go, before the rocket dudes could get a lock on me, and that was that.

Inferno ninpo to kill rocket launcher dude ambush --> tricky close quarter stair fight that almost killed me with chain grabs --> Inferno ninpo to kill second rocket launcher ambush --> Level complete --> MOST BADASS NINJA CUTSCENE EVER

                  Chapter 10.

Walk towards sewer cover. Shadow imps pop out. I laugh and kill them. Drop down hole, kill bats, save. Walk through door.

I see a few shadow imps spawn. On VH the enemies in the sewers were half greater imps, and half shadow imps, so I figure that on MN they are all shadow imps. I run up to run, Izuna Drop it as it spawns, land, take a swipe at another, and am then hit with a laser beam.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

Only half the enemies here were shadow imps. The other were FUCKING SHITFUCK LASER CRAB FIENDS.

The first room wasn't that bad, since I had room to run away from the laser crabs to deal with a few shadow imps, at which point I could commence UT chaining. After a few tries I completed the first room, and went back to save :>

What followed was a half hour long montage of me entering the second room, getting gang banged almost instantly, and then reloading and trying again. After a while I got back into the mode I was in for chapter one. I equiped my Unlabored Flawlessness (spamming UTs on 120 fiend challanges makes getting this thing really easy) and went to work. I tried to do a wall attack on a shadow imp, which killed in one hit. I would then try to use its essence to chain UTs as long as I possibly could. Even this proved extremely difficult - the area I had to fight in was so closed in that I was usually gangbanged as soon as I touched the ground. I found myself head hoppng across the crowd Mario style until I got to some free ground on the other side to commence my UT.

VICTORY. I went back and saved, knowing that I still had one more battle to do before the next save point. Luckily, this battle was just three shadow imps that attack you one at a time. Cake. I save, and then begin the journey to the shop, in which I would have to pass through one more shadow imp + laser crab fiend room. I handled this the same as the last one, except this area was much more open, and thus this only took one try.

At the shop I was finally able to upgrade the Dabilahro to level three. This allowed for the full Flaming Hellslash combo at full power, which decapitates shadow imps in only a couple of the combo's five or six hits, while protecting me from everything except for the crab fiend's lasers. Thus, my strategy for every shadow imp/crab laser fiend encounter became to open with a flaming hellslash, followed by chaining UTs (thankfully one UT with a level three Dabi kills the crab fiends here, which have apparently had their health reduced for this level (THANK FUCKING GOD)).

The worms are laughably easy now. Worm one dies on first try without hurting me. More shadow imps in tight tunnel, but no crab fiends, so this is cake. And shadow imp/laser crab fiend encounter on the way to the red tablet pedastal. Another one when I get the statue. These encounters are by no means trivial, but with the level three Dabi they are managable. GHOST FISH XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX B X XXX (Vigoorian Flails gogogo etc etc). Two worms take me a couple tries, since I kept screwing up and getting nailed by lightning balls.

The caverns after the two worm fight had me wary, since I was expecting laser crab fiends to pop up. Luckily, none did - these caverns were essentially the same as they were in VH, and while they were somewhat tricky then, it was complete cake for me now.

I put the blue tablet back, and whip out my Dragon Sword for the first time in a long time to have some fun with a few shadow imps. Save, and then Dabilahro Fiend Ryu fight.

Oh Jesus this guy is a cock now. He wouldn't be so bad, except he starts firing explosive arrows at you insanely fast whenever he is more than a few feet away from him. Furthermore, these arrows are almost impossible to dodge when he fires them at close range. Actually fighting him isn't a problem, but I keep dying when he gets slightly out of range and his AI goes into explosive arrow mode. I then get the idea to use explosive shurikens to interrupt his arrow firing, which works like a charm. The battle is soon won.

120 shadow imp fiend challenge = Unlabored Flawlessness UT chaining --> Fill inventory with everything except one Talisman of Rebirth at the shop --> 120 pill bug fiend challenge = Unlabored Flawlessness UT chaining --> GHOST FISH (Vigoorian Flail etc etc) --> Six ogres = flaming hellslash --> Save --> Paz Tzu.

Paz Tzu is a bitch, since his lasers now deal about 40% damage, and they hit quite a wide area. Furthermore, his AI kept refusing to do what I needed it to do. Other than that he was pretty much identical to how he was on earlier difficulties, except for having an additional shadow imp minion (this mattered little, since he usually killed them with his own lasers anyway). It took a few tries, simply because he does so much damage, but I took him down without using a talisman or too many potions.

                  Chapter 11:

This chapter sucks and is boring and is pretty much identical to how it is on VH.

Swim swim medalion swim swim hawk eye thing swim swim safe combination swim swim spear gun swim swim sunken ship ASFLKJALISMCLA LASER HELICOPTORS FUCK YOU swim swim oxygen tank swim swim maze medalion swim swim medalion room black ninjas ouch ouch they suck in this tiny little room swim swim big crack in floor swim swim hey chapter seven again swim swim elevator greater cat fiends easy shit at this point JotDS in safe swim swim save point Doku.

This battle is pracitcally the same on MN as it is on VH. Doku does a little more damage, and his black ninja minions have been replaced with red ninjas. But the arena you fight him in is so open that killing these ninjas isn't hard, and they give essence to use for Dabi or UF UTs (although these only sometimes hit Doku). Once they are gone, I equip the Lunar, and XY to poke Doku from a distance. This keeps me far enough away to easily evade everything he does, and he soon dies without much effort.

                  Next time I play:

120 Berserker fiend challenge aka an hour of spamming Dabi UTs. Fun fun fun.

120 stairway fiend challenge. I imagine this will be all shadow imps. I'll just chain UF UTs for the whole thing.

Kitetsu Fiend Ryu. Fun fight here.

Fire and Ice Caverns. I like this place more every time I go through it.

None of this should be too hard. I think that chapter 10 marked the worst that Team Ninja can throw at me. I'm sure there are still a few more challenges left that I am not expecting, but I can't imagine there will be anything too hideous.

LOL you wish it was that easy. first off there is more mini bosses so it wastes your healing potions, then you got the last fight with elma(not to hard but she kicks *&% in like one hit so watch yourself, also you have to fight the feind king so don't take MN to lightly. O did I tell you how hard the finale boss is, ya.....not that back stabing basterd but the lord, he is hell for real.

Um, I have beaten this game before. Three times. On Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. I know what lies ahead for me.

Oh, and the mini bosses before Marbus that you spoke of are replaced with the Nicchae/Ishtaros/Marbus clusterfuck of insanity on Very Hard. I got past them then, and I am sure I can do it again.

I do know that the enemies in the Core are the same in MN as they are in VH, and I am a lot better at fighting berserkers now than I was when I went through VH. Thus, I shouldn't have TOO much trouble getting through it when the time comes.

You are insane. I replayed the first level again the other day, on my friend's 360, and had trouble with that XD. I need to get my skill back because this game is so much fun.

                              Irate, sir.

But do not underestimate the enemy! Team Ninja will always have something harder up it's sleeve until the ending. This, you must assume.

That is what I am saying, sure I have heared many say"O it is so easy.". Then they find why it is called master ninja. Also, don't put down the skills of Team ninja, if you need something harder play Ninja Gaiden for X-Box not Ninja Gaiden Black, it is the easier verios to the first. Ninja Gaiden was to hard so they made Ninja Gaiden Black, its weird.
