    Re: Proposal

I have not read twg33. I don't plan on reading twg33. I just got back from Europe. I most certainly meant it when I said this idea of merging jTWG and TWG together was stupid, although not ALL of my reasons were pure.

I've discussed post quotas with the rest of TWC multiple times before, and we really can't come up with a solid way to put it into place without it destroying certain aspects of the game.

Frankly, the best course of action is to be more active on banning inactives. It is the only way to keep the inactives from playing as often. Perhaps they'll be better off when they do get to play, knowing if they don't contribute, they WILL get a 5 game ban, or something like that.

      Re: Proposal

I'm willing to help with anything I can. I've played in a whopping one jTWG and read quite a few from both divisions, so I'm quite unsure as to how punishments are exactly gone through with and the such, but on the other hand, I can see the problem as clearly as any vet, and I'm not retarded, as is the case with some of you out there. I agree a post quota would make things infinitely more complicated and probably bring a lot of hard feelings up when it comes to accusing people and the like, but if it helps the activity level, I'd support it until the end. Either way, merging the two divisions is still a horrible idea and TWC should probably just be more strict about the rules that are already in place until something better is proposed. Let me know if there is anything I could be doing. Take care.

        Re: Proposal

Another thing you would have to consider is that if everyone posted lots and lots of stuff all the time, then the game may be more enjoyable for some but for most there would be a huge amount of information to sort through.

Another aspect of twg activity is AIM conversations. It's just that people are lazy and don't feel like starting a conversation with someone else. Personally I don't like AIM chats but doing a bunch of 1 on 1 convos makes the game more interesting, especially for someone like me who likes to post a lot and be involved with the game as much as possible. It can get repetitive because you're asking similar questions and the such but it definitely allows you to come up with better conclusions about people who don't post a lot.

            Re: Proposal

The solution for you would obviously be to un-merge the two divisions again, as I've been lightly campaigning for ever since it was suggested that they be merged. Anyone looking can see the problems at hand, but anyone perceptive enough will realize that merging the two is not the correct answer. I'm not in charge of this place nor do I have a miracle cure, but unless I'm missing your point entirely, your situation would be remedied by the two divisions being separate again. Peace.

              Re: Proposal

I meant more of a plausable solution. The problem is that the TWC isn't going to go back on their decision because of one person't predicament. I've read a lot of the TWG's, but I didn't really get much out of reading them. The link to the TWG rules in the announcement is dead, and the link to the FFR rules is broken up (it's got ... in the middle, so most of it is obscured).

However, I would definitely rather see the jTWG come back, because if you're looking for active players, than grab people from jTWG, but don't shut it down. It's the equivalent of shutting down the minor leagues in baseball. You don't have a chance to see how people are doing against lesser competition before you bring them up to the tough competition. If you keep the jTWG around, you can just grab the players from the jTWG who you think are doing a good job, and it keeps the level of competition high.

It's just shooting the TWG in the foot, as evidenced by the high number of phantoms so far in TWG 33, and discourages new people from playing, as evidenced by the way that I feel about it. I don't want to be thrust into the front lines without any training, because I'm going to be stuck in the middle with no idea what I'm doing, no idea how to act, etc.

                Re: Proposal

                im fine with whatever solution.

The thing you have to consider is when you have two 16 player games, it's much harder to keep it active over one 16 player game.

That was why jtwg was created in the first place, to let those who couldn't make twg signups to play a game while the other game went on.

As far as getting training from jtwg.... when I went from jtwg to twg I thought I was worse off than if I just started in twg. There's just a different view of the game and jtwg is more politics and bandwagoning over actual evidence. I don't know why, it's just seems the first person to mess up is gone for the day and insta-lynched.

Yes you may make twg regulars mad by your noobish actions but it's like anything else. Getting the "tough love" sort to speak may not be fun for the first couple games, but you learn the rules and are better equiped to play games.

Not to say I'm an example XD. I'm horrible at finding wolves, but my play style still allows me to be able to contribute. Whereas people like kefit and chardish can discern who the wolves are just by looking at posts.

Your minor league major league analogy is great, but it's not two levels of competition here. It's two different game philosophies. So it would be like the minor league and the NBA. Get my point?

I'm fine with having two different groups but I liked the jtwg with only 10 players. They were a lot shorter, you learned the basics with how a game is setup and a couple of the roles. If there were inactives then the game usually didn't last super long and didn't lose it's fun. Then after a couple of those, you go to twg and play longer games with more complicated roles and strategies and 'better' players.

I think this was just a Chardish decision... I was certainly never asked my opinion about it beforehand.

The real question though is how well TWG33 is going. Is it more active? Are the 3-4 jTWGers who jumped up because of this doing OK? Will they learn from this game and be better next game?

                    HAHAHAHA.

Activity is ATROCIOUS. Not counting the host's posts, or Afro's death post, there were 30 total posts for this past day. Also, look at the phantom list:

                    Current phantoms:
                    Tokzic - 3
                    Necamus - 2
                    ddrdanc3r55 - 2
                    Tps222 - 2
                    MiniNeo - 1
                    JurseyRider734 - 1
                    FishFishRevolution - 1

Activity? Psssh. TWC, you've got some work to do when this game is over.

Heh. 3 phantoms and he hasn't been kicked out of the game? Chardish getting lax?!? Doesn't seem like him at all.
