But seriously, I am sick of "pad files" that have footing that makes 0 sense, or is so keyboard-like that doing it on pad requires inane amounts of bracketraping, etc. This thread only covers stuff relevant to pad files - how to make a .sm/.dwi, syncing etc. is covered elsewhere.
First off:
Crossovers/half-turns are tiring as hell on pad - avoid putting them in stream faster than ~185bpm. Avoid using these in your first time files, it usually leads to pad errors.
Jacks are bad. Do not use them in excess. Minijacks (2-3) are fine.
Spins are bad. Do not use them in anything faster than 8th runs at like 150~160bpm.
DO NOT USE CTRL+R (the record function) - IT IS INACCURATE. LAY DOWN EACH STEP INDIVIDUALLY, MANUALLY.
K, huge amount of images to come. If you see nothing, chances are, you're on a computer that has Photobucket blocked. In that case, too bad, go find another computer.

SLIGHTLY MORE COMPLEX STUFF

DON'T DO THESE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING

tips on gimmick stops: Continue the song without any stops until you reach the arrow you want to be a stop. Put it down, then keep going until you reach the point you want the song to resume.
Look at the CURRENT SECOND: section and write down that number in notepad, including the decimals. Then, erase the second arrow, go back to the "stop arrow". Put down the second arrow wherever you want it below it. On the stop arrow, increase/decrease the stop time until the time on the second arrow is equivalent to the second you had written down earlier.
I don't care if this is stickied or not, but please, sig this thread in support of good pad file making if you make pad files.
