Pretty much any dimensions proportionate to 256x80 will work as long as it's larger in size. 512x160 is just easier to remember because it's doubled, lol. I've tried banners of 400x125 and they also work exceptionally well, however it just -looks- strange since people are used to seeing the former two dimensions.

Also, SM5/SSC supports widescreen ratios so you could also take that into account when making banners and backgrounds for files.

i would put the title on the same row and the author just above it, aligned on the right? overall pretty cool tho

You mean on the background or the banner? I've never really bothered putting the artist in the bg but I may start. As for the banner it would look like

yeah those graphics are really cool!

i made a freedom dive file, it's finished and really hard. i just gotta adjust a few spots a bit. if someone wants to make graphics for it i would appreciate it . no hurry though, not sure what i will do with it yet, perhaps just a single release.
