Enigma - Bynary outta nowhere, definitely the best file I've played from you \o/

Vodka - would fully experience the file if I had some vodka on me right now but cool file. Hard to choose between this and Carlos's file xP

Rog-limitation - both charts were good but preferred Alex's chart over Bynary's

Kagashi - feels like a roar file but its overstepped :<. rip

Awakening - my collab file. shit in PR but the song makes it up for it, giving a relaxed state :3

Perilous Paradise - obligatory midi steps a kgz song terribly and stops halfway through \o/ I should really stop using KgZ song lmao

idk, Perilous Paradise felt more overcrowded than Kagashi

The only beef I had with Kagashi oni were the minijacks created from hands + layering (and the mines too).

My review on Szycag

Ok so i saw all the reviews and most of them said "Szycag the greatestest file of our generation" so I played it.
And I just don't get it.
Really. I mean. I don't say it to sound bashful or anything, I just can't understand what you guys find in this file. I tried, I played it all the way, FC'd it sightread, and still...
why ?

To me, it just felt like a 2007 file with the influence of the future, like MrTea went basically lazy on it, and tried to actually step VSnares without using the fantastic rate 0.5x option. It laked that necessary complexity to be enjoyable, and the more I played it, the more I thought "you're neglecting all of the sounds and the potential of this song", I didn't have a problem with it, because I enjoyed the step but I feel like they're just not ExPrEsSiVE enough, for that super-hard part that begins at half the song till the end, you had plenty of options to vary the step and the user experience, but instead of that, I felt like you were half-assing your file by putting steps without trying to properly make something truly enjoyable because of the length of the song...
It's still okay to play, because that's the kind of song you can put arrows on without getting worried about wether it still feels like you're taping to the drums... but really............... I'm disappoint [/dramaend]

What makes it a masterpiece ? Was the point missed ? Was what I criticized actually meant to be the core reason to consider this a masterpiece ?

one of the most memorable stepmania epiphanies and experiences i had was playing through odi1 for the first time, and szycag managed to recapture that feeling

if it were just a bit shorter, it would be a prime candidate for canonization as a stepmanian magnum opus

got 2/3 of the way through Szycag and that's all i've played so far cuz i've had a few drinks and stepmania is a bad idea right now so here's 2/3 of a review of one file

Szycag - you have a real knack for patterning which shines through with this stripped-down, step-sounds-not-****ing-layers approach. vaguely recalls some of don's work. a total blast to play through for a while, and predictably the difficulty ratcheted up the appropriate amount of notches as it went along. UNFORTUNATELY i had to quit out when the song became the biggest poopy pile of BZZ-TSS-WUP-TSS-ECKASTZZZT i've heard in quite some time and the patterns got a little bit sloppier/less smooth and more generic as the heavy jumps got mixed in. will give it a proper run through tomorrow though promise

same wit the rest of the pack. hype yo
