Any good legit DDR players?

Like playin no mods and no bar. Recently I just started doing that.

Sometimes it annoys me to see people like bar raping and going like 3x speed cuz they can't read the arrows, but I guess whatever works for them...

Speed mods exist for a reason. The bar is there for a reason. The fact that somebody is using them does not change the legitimacy of the scores they get. You could say "OMG MY STAMINA IS BETTER" if you don't use the bar, and you could just as well say "OMG I CAN READ SLOWER SPEEDS". That doesn't mean they're cheating in any way, but merely taking advantage of the features the game has to offer.

Oh ps. "OMG I SUCK AT READING ARROWS I'M GONNA PLAY MAX300 ON 3X". Ever think of that? Speed mods can add to the difficulty just as well as they can take away from it.

Porkbutts: in many cases having no mods is harder, yes, but think about it: you just tried to say that the only "legit" way to play is with no mods and without the bar. You think that isn't going to cause a fuss? Your describing every other type of play as illegitimate, as though it didn't count for anything, doesn't make people want to take you seriously. Try passing PSMO without the bar. Can you do that? If so, go to ITG2 and try to pass Summer: Speedy Mix, Vertex^2, Pandemonium, Energizer, or Bloodrush without the bar. It's physically IMPOSSIBLE to move so fast enough on Bloodrush without the bar. You're a bit behind, buddy.

I had a friend put it to me this way: speed mods are a bigger crutch than using the bar. If you tried to use bar on a song where you cant even read the arrows does it really matter? No.
I personally don't use the bar but do use speed mods. Let's take DDR since thats what forum this is in. I can AA max 300 without bar, but I always play it on 1.5x. If someone can do it and get the same score with bar on 1x, that person is the better player IMO. Reading at 1x is a lot more of a challenge if you're used to speed mods, you actually have to listen to the song more than just react to the arrows. It seems how I play is just get the beat of the song stuck in my head and just react to the note value of the step. As you play harder and harder songs you are usually forced to use speedmods, streams kill at 1x.

DDR is about how your FEET can move, not about how your EYES can move. It doesn't matter what you do with the rest of your body as long as you move your feet.

Bar is actually harder on songs with lots of crossovers sometimes, and speed mods are a mixed bag. Play bag .25x, that is a speed mod (oh it slows them down therefore its ok right? No you idiot, you'd say Legend of Max on .5 would be cheating wouldn't you.) or how about MAXX Unlimited 8x? Sounds easy right, I couldn't even do that on fingers and I can read faster than just about anyone on sm.

I'm sorry If ppl misunderstood my meaning of "legit" I was referring to when you had to play soft pad, and on the older versions of DDR there were no mods to offer. And if you can take that and apply it to the arcade, then that's what i'm talking about.

So people that have good enough balance that if they had to play with no bar, they could, and could play 1x all the time? Yeeeeah, I got your 1x pride right here, buddy =P There was also I time when I was furiously against playing with the bar. In fact, the tournaments I played in a year or two ago penalized for bar use.

thanks. I'm not saying I hate people that do use speed mods and use the bar occasionally. But people who take advantage of that, and have no flexebility whatsoever. People who refuse to let go of the bar, even in standard songs. And people who will play even readable songs in 1.5 or 2 speed.

I used to play 1.5 all the time, but I felt bad because my friend always played 1x speed and he was way better than I was. He could do circles and stuff effortlessly while i was still struggling w/ my bar. So i decided to get off those things and play w/o the bar and w/o speed mods. Its something you get used to. I still use the bar occasionally on hard songs like max300.

But, i just get slightly "annoyed" when I see people at ITG playing 6x speed and bar whoring 24/7. It seems to me like they "can't" play without those things.

passing psmo without the bar is easy. I got an A the first time I even passed it. On ITG 2, I almost passed summer speedy mix on my first game without the bar, vertex ^2 is just retarted and that will take me a while, same with pandy, but Energizer no bar isnt so bad. I can get like an 80% or so, but I havent played it for a while. and wtf do you mean bloodrush is fast? fricken summer speedy is faster than that. Bloodrush is just retarted because of the part after the 3rd big run. I can almost beat all 12's and like 1 13 without the bar, so dont be giving me this whole "OH SHI ITS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT THE BAR!!" crap.

btw I used to play no bar no mods on DDR, and I still could if I wanted to. I could AA anything no bar no mods on DDR that I could with speed mods. (I never use the bar though, never did on ANYTHINg and I never will).

so yea I have AA'ed everything on extreme cept maxx, lom, psm, and psmo. but yea.. this whole "X song is impossible without the bar" crap is so stupid it makes me laugh.
