Like these imaginary rubber balls, particles of a substance in a solution also move around randomly. If there is a concentration gradient in the solution, the substance will move from and area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration. The movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration caused by the random movement of particles of the substance is called diffusion (dih FYOO zhuhn). If diffusion is allowed to continue, equilibrium eventually results.
Now I have to leave the nice computer lab to go to stoopid Civ/Crim Law and take a test =/
