Hi,
Background:
The flash engine lags in IE, FF, and Chrome, in Vista, on my machine.
Observed the same lag on other machines.
Additionally, other people report the lag issues. The best solution I have seen is the standalone player.
The problem: New players experience laggy gameplay. Multiplayer is difficult under lag, and new players might have a hard time learning to hit arrows fast under lag. New players are unlikely to check forum posts and identify the background behind lag. The past (Windows 2000 era) absence of lag is transparent to new players.
Proposed solution: Promote the standalone player and provide instructions to download. Change the FFR the Game link to point to instructions on downloading the standalone player. Promote the standalone player as a primary means of playing. Provide background information in the instructions on benefits of using the flash standalone player vs the browser flash player. Provide a youtube video that compares the two side-by-side and illustrates the lag. Provide relevant forum posts to the topic.
Outcome: Suspect the game is more enjoyable, suspect the game receives less general public type traffic and more rhythm gamer type traffic. Suspect the site receives less traffic in general.
