    Re: FFR Suggestions

You all argue Standalone details and Gamebooster effectiveness as if it's a science with reoccuring results that never change. Lol. Everyone's computer is going to run it differently...to a lot of people, myself included, Gamebooster isn't going to do anything helpful. I don't run very much outside of FFR when I play FFR, so GB is just a waste of time for me. I play on Flash 9, because it runs smoother on my computer with the current FFR engine. That doesn't mean somebody else's won't run it faster or better on Flash 10... 10 doesn't ever crash for me. It just lags. Therefore I choose not to use it. I can totally believe that some of you have no issues with 10 whatsoever. Why do we need to argue about it? It's as simple as this:

Download Flash 8, Flash 9, and Flash 10. Run the swf in each of them and play a few songs. Pick which one works best. Still having problems? Try Gamebooster. Doesn't work? Get rid of it and move on. Nobody can look through your computer specs and say "Oh, yeah, you'll need Flash 9 and Gamebooster." It's not a standard or anything we can set without the computer sitting in front of us to test it.

I think the penalty should be to blacklist the alt. The player should be allowed to transfer the scores to their main if they want, but the alt should definitely be blacklisted. If the alt is that of another actual player, any scores that look like they were gotten by the good player should be removed, but they shouldn't be blacklisted (it might not be their fault).
I definitely agree and was hoping that something would be done with my alt already. I mean, there's not an army of people with alts who can AAA FMOs and higher. If that was done on the whole difficulty scale I could understand that it's overdoing it, but if we start here it's not so bad.

        100 sounds pretty reasonable.

BTW: Ziergdsx = Reimu- = Cirno- = Yukari- = Yuyuko-sama (new main account?)
        there's also Etylukah/Hakulyte, Dragon Shot/Velocity, FR_Zappy/Zap_Track/Xayphon, OhiImMasterOfTheTaco/MasterOfTheTaco (guessing both are BS), V-Ormix/TC_ORMIX/FR_ORMIX(probably)
and other alts: WTF WRECKED, ~ 5~, .-., hakase(?), STEPMANIA POLICE, samurai7694_VC, ffdfadsdasd2, Yuyuko- (not zierg), youbad
Feel free to dispute any of these, I don't have IP checking or anything like that.

        EDIT: Another one: Herogashix(main)/FGO/Travis deJong

I second this, although the line can get quite unclear this way. If you only give a penalty to alts that AAAs FMOs and higher but not to people who are slightly less pro, that would be unfair.

Shouldn't it be forbidden to even have an alt in the first place?

I'd say top 200 for the simple fact that the FFR leaderboards show the top 200 players on any given song.

              200 is more reasonable.

Also jon would you be able to code a log in for the legacy engine as well? I feel that might solve a few lag issues with everyone else to.

The whole issue with trying to catch people on alternate accounts is that there are some instances where multiple people can get decent scores on the same account.

Manual checking would involve a person needing to get a video camera showing the players in question, and then a person can try to say that they don't have a camera.

                It's an endless process.

Is there a way to cross check ip's with scores obtained?
It is possible for people of the same skill level to play from the same ip, but its a lot fewer.
I believe it would show patterns after a while.
                  Maybe not.
                  Just a thought.

                    Re: FFR Suggestions

It might be an interesting experiment to actually record IPs per score, rather than just a list of IPs used by a given account. Of course, this would be a little tricky for the database.

Perhaps when a new IP for an account is recorded, the first bunch (up to 50?) of new level records achieved with that IP could be saved...

                      On a side note.
What if people "register" where they play so-to-speak.
Have it be part of the login maybe. Kind of like a login server for an MMO.
There would be a button for where you were playing.
Probably one for "Home", "School". That kind of thing.\
And have it have a different db sheet for each button.
It would make ip logging vs. scores a little easier i think.

And can we go through the user database and unless they sent a message or someone else knows what happened to them i think we should delete the users and try and get an accurate number on active members.

I didn't read through the entire thread...62 pages of suggestions would just worsen my 5am headache.

Nothing against the artist of the loop that we currently have on the menu screen, but if I want to choose my own menu music, can I be able do that with any of the songs I have currently unlocked? I would get nerd chills every time I played FFR if I turned it on and Gradeus started playing.

You can already do that on the Velocity engine, you can put any song you have unlocked on FFR or even a mp3 or youtube link.

We already have this information. We're averaging about 1000 users per day logging in, with about 140 new registrations per day.

100 of which are probably alts -.-

Although I also agree it would be nice if we could clean up the 1,772,529 member count to only include semi-active members, I honestly don't see any possible way to do it without deleting accounts of people who are part of this game but just haven't been around in a while.
