    Chatroom Emotions

Anytime you go into the chatroom, there is always sombody spamming the emotions. It lags my computer to the point where i have to wait a couple of seconds before I can say somthing. I say we put an end to this by taking them off. Who else agrees? The emotions Are Pointless!

    RE: Chatroom Emotions

Point 1: They are called emoticons. Stripping people of their emotions is a tad heartless.

Point 2: On the lefthand sidebar, there are two boxes with check marks in them. Uncheck the first box to disable emoticons.

      RE: Chatroom Emotions

or you could just get rid of them altogethor... They could always use this kind of stuff : ) ; ) not that hard to do. Besides ive tried unchecking the boxes and it doesn't work...I even retried after you made this post and still no good.

        RE: Chatroom Emotions

That's odd: It works for me... 100% of the time. Make sure the boxes are UNchecked.

Besides, people will always spam faces made from different keyboard items... You just have to know how to turn off the silly little animation.

Well, I tried again and still no luck. But now I have a question for you MalReynolds. If you had the CHOISE of whether or not to have the emotions...Would you want them or not and why?

I like emotions. I thought I was clear on that point. And people will always spam ;0 and shit like that. I think the way I say blocks them, but I dunno. Maybe just not for you. I wouldn't get rid of them, personally, but that's because they don't bother me...

            At all.

well, lets think of the positives and the negitives.

              Getting rid of the Emotions:
              Positive-Probably less spaming.
Positive-less spaming means less kicking which can create lag on the server.
Negitive-not having the emotions to use.

-it wouldn't bother me if people didn't spam them. Maybe we should suggest a time limit before you can use another emotion? (ex.) you can use an emotion, then have to wait a while before you can use another emotion.

People will still spam the faces... You don't seem to realize that the allure of the emoticons isn't just the flash animation. It's the annoyance that people get from having broken conversations! See? It's beautiful! They'll do it no matter what!

Guys. The chat is 3rd party. The Staff of FFR can't DO ANYTHING TO IT.

What ever happened to that other chat? That one was awesome for a while.

i agree with phathomslice disableing them would be a great idea or putting a time limit inbetween would be good also even if people do still make faces not having an animation wouldnt lag your computer and then they would get kicked for spam i think

Learn how to read. I already said above that the chat is not made by the FFR staff and because of this, they can't change it.

To agree with him is to say that you think the staff should do something about it (which they can't) otherwise you wouldn't have even posted.

Either way, it's unneeded since what Mal said is a PERECT fix. It allows for people who want to see large annoying emoticons to be able to see it and it allows for those who don't want to see it to not see it. If emoticons were removed somehow lots of people would make threads about not being able to spam emoticons anymore.

PS You got a lot of balls coming in here harrassing a regular when you're such a newb. I can't decide whether that's a good thing or not though.

If the chat emoticons are that much of a problem for you, then just don't go in it.

                              There, problem solved.
