    So That I Have Offset.....

Now that I have an offset function (in my standalone) .... Someone should make a sticky with all the songs that need it, and how much to set it to. This would take awhile, but would be beneficial for the whole community.

I agree to this. Although the only issue is that some people need different offsets. The whole reason for the offset feature was because no universal offset amount will ever exist. It varies by person and OS to some degree. True, we could get ballpark numbers, but an official offset would be nearly impossible.

I don't think it would vary more than a frame though, variation between individuals.

      For example:

      (Song Title) +2 or 3
      (Different Song) -1 or -2

A neat list like this would be very useful

        +1

I had an idea like this a while back when offset was first released, but I was too lazy to make a thread about/suggest it.

Making a thread that provides best-fit offset values with respect to their files that require it sounds like a good idea.

Really? I thought that the offset function was implemented due to legacy files that were off sync. I don't think the offset varies from person to person or OS to OS but rather file to file. By creating a thread that provides of a list of recommended offset values for files (particularly those that are off sync), this would no longer be an issue.

Again, this list wouldn't need to include every file in game, just those that range from slightly off sync to significantly off sync.

If this happens, a mod should sticky.

Anyone bored enough to start making the list? Preferably someone with great PA lol.

In all seriousness a lot of the songs would just be 0, so omitting those would mean a lot less of a list to have to type out.

              I +1 this.

Personally, there are a lot of songs that do need an offset. Not to mention, people also use offset for their own personal use. (Hitting late or early) The main offset of what a song should be could help them better justify what the offset could be to them.

a good deal of ffr songs are just a tad late. not enough for -1 frames but I can never put -0.5 so it's kind of a piss off that the simfile artist didn't sync it properly in the first place

I think a list of songs that are off sync that can be synced with an offset that's not originally 0 is a great idea.

It also depends on your computer/laptop. For some reason my laptop is slightly later so I use -3 offset for the most part. -2 may be suitable for most files.

The most obvious file that needs a decent offset is party4u v1. That is so horribly off it NEEDS an offset - I use -10 on it and it's fine.

Offset DOES vary from computer to computer. The majority of files I play require an offset of -1. When I use my earbuds, that becomes 0 for most files. On my old computer, I would presume my offset would be 0 without earbuds/headphones, due to additional time required to hit the fatter keys.

I know it's sort of a lot to ask for, but either an experienced step file artist or someone with incredible PA would probably be the most suitable candidates for creating a list of recommended offset values imo.
