Windows 7 Users and Lag (Includes Vista)

As most of you know there is lots of lag when using flash player 10. Most people say because it uses up so much resources that most computers can't handle it.

    Well that is somewhat true.

I have come across a process called WmiPrvSE.Exe. This process affects a lot of vista and 7 users(sometimes XP). It handles a lot of different things that I am not going to explain. Google it if you want to know.

Anyways, what happens with the process is that it sometimes takes up a lot of CPU power and causes lag in a lot of applications, including Flash Player. There are many different reasons that this problem happens and if it is happening to you, google it and try to fix it. If you are lazy, like me, you can right click the process and hit "Suspend". You can not terminate this process because it is a Windows essential.

I do not recommend keeping it on "Suspend" as it will affect many of your computer's automatic processes that start and stop on their own. I.E Suspend when playing, turn it back on after.

This has helped my lag, I recieve none now. Does this help the random arrow misses in some browsers? No.

    Anyways, I hope this helps.

You can find this process is resource monitor.
Unlimited space to host images, easy to use image uploader, albums, photo hosting, sharing, dynamic image resizing on web and mobile.

As you can see, my process spikes up to around 25 and then drops down. This causes the CPU average to be around 2%. I only feel lag spikes, and it is in direct relation with this process.

Although, this process varies for every one.

Right click and hit Suspend(Resume is under it)
Unlimited space to host images, easy to use image uploader, albums, photo hosting, sharing, dynamic image resizing on web and mobile.

The process is a windows essential, meaning that windows will have it running already. What I am saying is that this process takes up a lot of CPU power(Caused by an error) and that is causes lag. Suspending the process will help with lag.

I have edited my OP to include where to find it and how to suspend it.

This process only runs when i start up my computer then it disappears after the related tasks finish. Doesn't open up when i play ffr so how is it related to lag?

I doubt it. The process is running all the time, windows depends on it. If you are in task manager clicking "show all processes from all users" will bring it up. If you are in Resource Monitor, you should be able to see it.

I know what the process is and what it does, Just saying that a lot of users probably don't have that in their processes at all times, like me.

Interesting. Are you running Vista? From what I can tell, this mostly effects Windows 7 and only rarely Windows Vista

This is not a process that is ongoing at all times on my computer either. Programs may run it I suppose, but it is not a process that is ALWAYS running. I double checked both my task manager as well as my resource monitor to make sure this was the case. I have Windows 7, if it makes a difference.

Other solution: Get flash 9 or 8 standalone, put in the following url, and you should be lag free if you were before the update! I had the same problem, and this fixed it really quickly. http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/ffrndanotherway.swf

I'm pretty sure it is a service. So it has something to start the service when you first start windows and then it goes away from the process list. That doesn't mean it isn't active though. It is probably hidden away in one of the many svchost.exe's. If you go to run and type services.msc you can see a list of all the useless services that are currently running on your computer.

Actually most of the are useful and used all the time. lol. But there are some you really don't need.

As for whether or not this causes lag, I dunno. I doubt it.

On my windows 7 comp I can easily fix lag by disabling windows aero and setting my theme to windows classic.

If you want desktop shortcuts to do this simply write down each of these lines, in a different notepad and save it as a .bat

                              Code:
                              Turns off:
                              net stop "Windows Managment Instrumentation"

                              Turn on:
                              net start "Windows Managment Instrumentation"
