    Need help with trills

Is there any short songs (Under 3 minutes) with a lot of trills to practice on? This is one thing that kills me everytime. I can't seem to do trills that last a long time cause I start screwing up, my fingers trip over each other and I go off-beat.

Also any other way to help me with it aside from songs to practice with?

If you play Stepmania, try the Heavy chart for Dokudenpa and the Oni chart for Eruption. Dokudenpa was featured at Keyboard Megapack, and Eruption at Hard Sh*t pack. Both can be found here.

Vertex BETA helped me tremendously. You gotta have the stream skills tho. Hit the trills hard so you can hear them clearly.

Jelly Roll Blues, KungKlung2004. Momentary Life is a fun file packed with trills iirc, but it's a purchased.

I remember when I was playing and I practiced trills just on a table. Just building up the finger strength and the constant movement in my fingers helped a lot. I practiced all the different combinations and it really helped a lot when I applied it to actual songs.

Do your own trills outside of FFR, like 16th notes along with music so its like a metronome. I'll assume you're a spread player, and that by trills, u mean one handed. I'm not a pro or anything, but this helped me. So start with your index first, then start with your middle finger, because the trills don't always start on the same fingers on the same parts of the beat.\

The song Max Forever has a lot of very long and slow trills if you want some variety. This song could help you practice keeping the beat during a long trill.

Thanks for the responses, I'll try out the songs and the tapping to beats outside of FFR idea.

Unfortunately, I don't have StepMania anymore and don't really plan on getting it again so I won't be able to try out Dokudenpa.

                          Re: Need help with trills

I find it easier to combat trills by only looking at the down-beat and the sub-divisions. If you have 24th trills, I look at the arrow that starts it and every 12th note. Doing this in SM also improves my MA.

yeah I agree with Halogen, trills are easier if you just look at one arrow side and concentrate on staying steady rather than "hitting the notes fast"
