This redirecting bs is exactly the reason I am sooooooooooooooo happy I managed to get a subby from someone. It's extremely annoying.
If I remember correctly, subscribers get redirected too, so I don't think that's necessarily what solved this problem for you.
I don't ever get redirected, but I've been using Adblock Plus for ages now. I'm really surprised at the number of people who swear by Firefox and don't know about it, considering I hate Firefox and only use it for this site, yet I've known about it since I started using Firefox.
I understand the "subscribe to remove ads" mentality, but this is beyond that. It takes me AWAY FROM THE SITE. Why on earth would FFR allow an ad that takes the user away from the site?
It's nearly impossible for me to tell where these stupid fling.com ads are coming from. I suspect it is from our remnant ad inventory which could mean it is one out of 1000 advertisers that are injecting it. Through IE I am never logged in to the site so that I can see the ads and I have never been redirected. If anyone can help me located the location on the page it is coming from that would be a great help. Also, remnant ads are shown after about your 20th-30th refresh of any FFR page in 24 hours. Do these ads seem to coincide with that? Are they truly redirecting or is it a rollover that is triggering a redirect?
I don't like redirects and I never signed an agreement for them with any of the advertisers in the past. Help me find these bastards and I will shut them down on FFR.
Cheers,
Synthlight
This is basically the same thing, just a different website. If I understand correctly, Synth never did allow those types of ads on this website. If you're savvy enough to figure out where they're coming from, say so, because then Synth can actually do something about it.
FFR doesn't willingly allow these ads, actually. Synthlight has said he hates redirect ads, and if anyone can find out how this is happening, he'd personally remove it.
EDIT: Well foilman ninja'd me and is probably going to dig the quote up I was just going to dig up, haha.
I thought I was just my jacked up IE, but then I used Firefox and it still happened. Now I use Google Chrome and I don't redirected anymore. It may be the adblock on it.
