      Re: Does Your Keyboard Matter?

Your keyboard is the single greatest factor in the ceiling of your own skill.

The higher raised your keys are from the sensor, the longer it takes to press the key down to register a tap. The more time it takes to press the key down to the sensor, the more time there is for error. Which is why getting a keyboard that just makes a nice sound when you tap it is utter garbage and a waste of money. Getting a flat keyboard, as thin as possible, with the least amount of resistance from the keys themselves will result in drastically increased speed, accuracy, and stamina. Also not using the arrow keys helps too, as the arrow keys are wired differently on keyboards, and will produce a small amount of lag.

Oh and NEVER FKKING GET A WIRELESS KEYBOARD ARE YOU CRAZY.

        My keyboard is wireless rawr

Also i broke the tabs that prop it up, so i lean it at an angle against the moniter. Unbelievably annoying, cuz it slowly slips to flat. Basically I'm constantly re-adjusting the position of it with my lower palms/thumbs while playing.

well your avatar is you hitting a bong so obviously you have no judgement.

your keyboard is crucial, but any cheap usb keyboard should be fine - you don't need a $200 dollar kb to be good. just get one that feels good.

I play on some stock dell keyboard that came with an old computer i bought way back in 2000. It still works fine and i play better on it that i do when i try any other keyboard.

                      Re: Does Your Keyboard Matter?

I used to use a Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 (http://www.wolfmanzbytes.com/pc/msco...urve2000lg.jpg). It played quite smoothly but the durability was horrendous. I went through two of them in a matter of months (when I got the second one, I used the old broken one for replacement keys when specific keys on the newer one became useless, but within no time two of the same key had broken, and no way I was getting any more).

Now I use some dell model (http://www.logicapproach.com/images/0J4628.jpg) which apparently comes with new dell computers. My PA suffers from it (at a friends' house once I halved my great count record on Patashu's Visitor SM file due to his keyboard's thinner keys), but it hasn't shown any noticable signs of wear since I've got it. I'm ok using it as I usually don't play songs for score, and the keyboard doesn't noticably affect my speed, but I wouldn't reccomend using the model to a hardcore FFR player.

And yes, wireless keyboards are horrible. If you plan on playing any reflex-based video game (i.e. all of them) or typing faster than 10 letters per second, stay away from them.

My keyboards matter, I used to have an older one from some 98' computer, it was pretty good but didn't handle speed well. I switched to some Dell keyboard, and it can handle over 280 bpm long roll bursts, while the other couldn't when playing SM so it does make a difference o_o And my accuracy improved a little bit from the switch too.

Dell keyboards seem to rock in general. Great sensors on em'.

It matters huge. I get massively different results when I use my USB keyboard and my 2 other serial keyboards.

                            I use this one:

You know, they should make keyboards designed like laptop keyboards. I don't like the angle concept because it proves faulty for one handers such as myself. Buying a laptop keyboard is better than buying a laptop itself.
