I think what I'm screwing up on is that there are so many freaking noises going on, and they're not 100% in time with each other? I don't know, it sounds to me like different parts of the song are on different tempos o_0

Arabesque does that too. The beats in the background are ahead of the melody.

Leave the song alone for a while... to the point that you mostly, if not completely, forget how the song goes. Then play it without the sound on and never turn it on on that song ever again.
