1x or 1.75x? Is there any difference?

Well, I've seen some videos of people AAAing songs, and they seemed to have put the game speed to 1.75x. Is there a reason for it, or is 1.75x just for the challenge of faster notes?

1.75x makes it easier for me to read the arrows (after getting my reaction time up)

For me, 1x = I can't even AAA Excite Bike
1.75x = lol AAA Balloon Fever

The reason they put 1.75X is that it help you be better but you need to be able to type fast to put it at 1.75X. To say it short, the more faster does the arrow go the less time you got to do a reaction and that is called reflexs. Reflexs is the thing that make you good in this game... well... after practice

Well, I've been trying to play on 1.75x, and amazingly, I've found that sometimes it does feel a little bit easier. And yes, Artic_Counter, I can type quite quickly. Anyways, thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to play more FFR on a faster speed. Weooo!

(also, I can make my friends jealous when they see I play on a faster speed, ANND get better than them. Teheee... )

When you use the speed mods, you increase the rate the arrows move across the screen. In order for the moving arrows to hit the stationary arrows at the same time, which they have to do since the song's tempo isn't changing, the moving arrows have to be spread out more. By spacing the arrows out farther apart from each other, it can be easier to read the patterns and hit more notes. It may also increase your accuracy (e.g., hitting more perfects).

The speed mods definitely help me. I normally use a 1.5x speed mod. I didn't get much help from 1.25x, and 1.75x is a bit too fast for me most of the time. Try out a few different options, and see what works best for you. Just keep in mind that it may take a little practice to get used to the faster arrows, so don't give up too quickly.

higher speeds let you distinguish the time between arrows better. It essentially gives you more precision.
The downside is that with the arrows moving faster, you can't see as far ahead in the song; you won't be as prepared for what is to come.

At fast enough speeds (I'd say 1.75x and up), reaction time also becomes very important, since you need to have a very fast reaction time, fast thinking, and fast reflexes.

When they first added speedmod, I tried 1.25x and I found thing much easier. I'm not really comfortable with 1.5x though; I am not a expert player or anything.

Lawl. Yes, there is a difference.
There will be less notes on the screen with 1.75x on. For those that playshrunk before the existence of speed mods, it's the only way to do it. I still playshink, though I switch to 1.75x/2.0x when I feel like it. I'd use speed mods more often if there was something in between 1.75 and 2.0.

Without playshrinking and speed mods: can't even pass Pita. Lol. I sux.
With playshrinking and speed mods: FC Less Talk More Rokk.

Basically, speed mods don't change the speed of the song, and you shouldn't really care about arrows until a second before you hit them.
              I fail to AAA.

I've noticed it doesn't change the speed of the songs. Just to question your terminalogy, though, whats Playshrinking?

You may be referring to screencutting, which is when you resize your browser window to only show part of the game screen. The logic behind it is essentially the same as the logic behind the speed mod; it helps increase your accuracy / readability due to the increased reaction time required to hit the arrows. It sounds counterproductive, but it's a way to enhance your performance without raw practice.

I play 1x with heavy screencutting.

Does anyone else find 1.75x laggy? I have horrible PA with higher speeds, too much of the screen is there, I cant concentrate on the perfect frames aswell.

I use x1.75 and it's pretty much the only way I can keep decent accuracy, but I know what you mean. Apparently, the frame rate this game is running on isn't exactly smooth when it comes to the speed mods; a lot of frames seem to be dropped, making them appear to be choppy. But, I don't really notice it unless I'm watching for it.

It's a flash game. =X That causes a lot of issues(choppy arrows/avgmisses and such). Anyway, I play with x1.5 and slight screencutting. I recently added the screencutting, and my PA has gone up alot. *nod*

hmmm... i play 1.75 now... i used to play 1.5 or 2.0 but it never worked as well because 1.5 is too slow, and 2.0 can be too fast on harder songs (but you will have a sick PA)

obviously wok your way up to 1.75, cuz it might be fast to start with. i started on 1.5x, then went 1.5x with a little cutscreen. now i play 1.75, its the best speed i feel, but yet some people prefer 1x cutscreen over speed mods. find what you like.

I gave it a shot with 1.75x, and I wasn't doing too bad. I'll see how it improves over the next day. Can't play anymore atm. Too much FFR for one day.
