Playing an instrument make you better at FFR?

Take piano for instance, it uses basically the same principles as FFR.

Reading notes very quickly and playing them using fingers...

Does anyone who play piano find theyre very good at FFR?

It's only a theory but still I'm interested to see the results.

Midday plays the piano and when he first came he was already a lv 20 though most people believe he has another account that he's been playing on. I do believe that playing an instrument such as a piano does increase your skills in this game.

IMO Playing any instrument doesn't help your skill at FFR.

It won't make you hit arrows going up a screen better.

Playing certain instruments such as piano will make your fingers stronger giving you more stamina.

Playing any instrument properly and understanding note colours in relation to timing will help you to hit notes better.

I play piano, and I'm not very good at FFR.

It helps with some techniques, such as trilling, but not really with reading notes or whatnot.

The more you understand music, the better you will be able to perform at music games.

Re: Playing an instrument make you better at FFR?

Things to do that will help you become better at ffr:

                1. Play DDR/ITG/PIU to get better at reading arrows.
                2. Play ffr itself.
                3. Play an instrument such as piano or guitar to make your fingers more nimble and pron to quick movements without tripping over each other.
                4. Play an instrument such as bass to increase finger strength.
                5. Play guitar hero to help with finger strength, finger mobility, and note-reading ability. (And cause the game kicks ass).
                6. Finger chicks (not really to help you get better at ffr, just cause).

I do all of these things and my ave rank at ffr is 545, which to pro's isn't good, but its better than most, so get out there and start using ur fingers to kick ass!

Re: Playing an instrument make you better at FFR?

Reading music on paper is much different than reading the beat from a game on the computer. I won't bother going into details though. It's pretty obvious that sheet music doesn't have colored notes that move, and that's good enough for a difference.

Sure you need fast fingers for both, but you need them in different ways. For example, playing FFR is nothing like playing, say, a trumpet or guitar in terms of finger placement.

But it isn't completely useless though. Both improve your sense of music and your ability to move your fingers in-time with music. They help each other, but not in ways you would expect.

They are not directly related, although being skilled at either means you have good coordination and rhythm, which are required for both.

Re: Playing an instrument make you better at FFR?

I think of FFR as being a lot like a percussion instrument (like the tenor/quad drums) without the use of dynamics (although playing more quietly when long jack sequence appear is probably a good idea, rather than hitting hard like i do and sucking at jack speed because i take my hands too high off the keyboard when i jack and hit too hard) Accenting certain arrows can also help accuracy, sometimes.

...and colored notes are the equivalent of the different-shaped notes in music used to indicate duration, IMO.

I think they're directly related, since it DOES happen to be a music rhythm game. Dore is basically right. Understanding musical rhythms helps you get much better accuracy in a music game.

I'm actually pretty good at ffr, believe it or not, just play me and you'll see.

What helps me is that I play the trumpet.

Re: Playing an instrument make you better at FFR?

For one, playing a musical instrument will increase your natural hand-eye coordination at FFR in terms of hitting to the music.
Secondly, it could also improve your timing in FFR if you actively practice timing while playing the instrument and have a feel for good timing.
Third of all, reading different notes while playing an instrument could help differentiate between different-colored notes in FFR.
Lastly, playing an instrument for long periods of time could strengthen your fingers, making the keys easier to hit, improve your stamina and quicken your fingers, which could help in really fast songs. It might even increase your hand-speed, improving how well you can play index.

I partially agree with this statement, because they're a little too different. You get no visual feedback from playing a musical instrument. Also, even if there were visual feedback, you still wouldn't be timing the arrows, which is a vital skill in FFR. They're not directly related, but they have their similarities and thus practicing one can increase your skill in the other. Ieatyourlvllol basically nailed it.

I think it just relates in rhythm. If you played an instrument before FFR, chances are that you will get better pa (chances...)
