    One Handed...

Why the hell do people play 1 handed? Seriously. It doesn't make you good, your AAA's will never be impressive, there is a limitation on how good you can get, etc.

I know people have opinions and sh*t, but I think it would be much smarter to play spread, or hell, even index. The last thing I want is to get flamed, I'm just asking a simple question. "Why?".

I'd like to see the day a 1 hander FC's St.Scarhand (SM), or a 1 hander AAA's Splash Beats (FFR). It would probably be BS anyways. I got quite a few people to switch, thank god, but all you one handers...think about it. You are WASTING...YOUR...TIME.

Ask DarkManticoreX2, he will say how much better he is. He has doubled his 1 handed scores within a month of switching. He was the best one hander ever, probably. If you won't switch, I won't even both fighting back, it's your own honest option. But seriously...one last time...think about it.

I was just bored, so I made a rant about how one handers should convert. Anyways, discuss I guess?

    Cheers,

    Spread User.

Most people start one handed. No one thinks, "Hey, I'll just use <v86!" They start on the arrow keys, and get used to it.

Yeah, i just started 1 handed and got used to it. To be fair, i have tried to go spread, but i sucked, and i couldn't be bothered getting up to the level i am again. I want to be spread, but i don't wanna start all over again, after all the stuff i have done one handed.

        My friend started 1 handed.
He got me into the game and I started 2 handed.
        He called me a noob.
I sucked, but I was still much better than him.

One handed tends to be more fun, at least I think. It makes FFR play like one handed beatmania lol.

Yeah, but as he said, it does have its limitations. I am struggling to get quasar on normal speed in stepmania one handed. I have 90% speed no probs, but its getting near impossible. Then you look at people like Arch0wl who do it on 150% speed. Its fun, you move your fingers VERY fast, lewl, and yeah, i don't think im gunna change

Alot of people play one hand and are good at it.

No, I am not one of them. I play spread.

Well, sure most people start one handed, but some people decide to stay that way for a long time. XPYRYMYNT and s0ulst0n3 are 2 good examples. Atleast my brother is spread now...he got smart.

I extremely recommend for all 1 handers to switch. OF COURSE you will suck...but would you rather play 2 years in a row without gaining any skill...or start from scratch, and get to Shashakiro's skill level in 2 years?

WEll... I always tell myself, you are at the maximum physically possible, stop now. But then I get faster, and higher stamina, and better accuracy.

                    Re: One Handed...

I'm not getting any better. I switched from 1 handed once I was 3k overall rank and realized that I could follow the arrows faster than my fingers, and I never got any better. Once I switched to spread (and new account), I got better than 1 handed in about 100 games. Now I'm 1k overall rank with 1000 less games.

Now that I'm not getting any better anymore, I think I'll switch to down.

                        Re: One Handed...

I play one-handed. I started off one-handed (actually, back in the day, I thought that if you played two-handed you were a n00b and a wimp), and stuck with it. I tried two handed, honestly, but nothing beats one-handing it. I can mash better with one hand as well (my main test for this was Vertex BETA vrofl), but that may just be because I'm used to it.

But hey, I haven't reached my limit yet; I'm constantly getting better. I can pass TGWP part 1 with ease. I think I may have passed FotB once or twice; I haven't tried in a while.

I'd say that the only downside to one-handing it (for me, anyway) is that I have to warm up with easier songs such as Dendrite or Below the Surface before I can approach harder stuff, lest my muscles cramp and then I can't play at all.

so you're saying that getting an AAA using one hand isn't impressive when it's the hardest playing style to do well on?

also, I doubt anyone can reach Shash's level in 2 years simply by switching from 1-handed to spread.

Eh, Im not OMG better yet, but I am seeing the advantages to spread. (I can somewhat PA up-down trills now).

You can't say AAA'ing songs one handed isn't impressive. Personally, I think my one-handed AAA of MLR or V & M is close to an AAA of gradeus spread. I'm the only one-hander to have done it, and I still get people going "wow I can't belive you did that". So don't say one-handed AAA's are meaningless because they're not.

It also depends on style. onehanded + thumb could very well AAA splash beats. I bet korny could do it if he tried.

Other than that, I will probably be better than I was one handed in another 2-3 months. FFR is more about being able to read arrows than anything. The main reason I'm improoving so fast is that I can recognize almost every pattern and hit it from my 1 1/2 years playing one-handed. The only thing holding me back is my left handed speed, which will come with time.
                            AAA's = 800
