Say I have a song of 60BPM (To make numbers easy)
If I have a bunch of 4th notes lined up...
...then, between two notes, I convert 0.5 seconds of beat into pause...
...on C300, you'll see no change, except all notes after that pause will now be blue. Then, by doing another 0.5 second pause, I can convert them back to red, etc.
I think it also increases the difficulty of the song by not using the standard coloring scheme. When you're used to red quarter notes, for example, seeing them come up blue can cause confusion, at least until you get used to it. But getting used to it can take time and effort, thus making the song harder. So personally, I think non-standard colored arrows makes things harder and more confusing, but if FFR supports it and you want to do it, go ahead. Just think about the potential effects on players when you go against what they expect to see.
