It's a musical term, so you should be able to web search for a good definition. A long description can be found at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_note). A kind of one-sentence summary from that article is, "grace notes occur as notes of short duration before the sounding of the relatively longer-lasting note which immediately follows them." Short duration is very fast, so fast that the note doesn't even count as taking up time in the music. I guess in a sense, it could resemble a gallop pattern here; actually, that would probably be a lot closer to it than trills would. But thinking of very fast trills as note pairs rather than a stream has helped me so far. When/If I get the stamina, skill, or whatever to move my fingers fast enough (I do play one-handed though), I shouldn't need to use this method anymore. I've been seeing some improvements, though maybe small, over time. But while I'm still working on everything, I use whatever works for now.
