I have two questions that just popped into my head. If third style is going to have holds, won't that mean there can't be a boo system? Unless it's different than it is now holds = boos. If it's made so that boos are completely taken out then it ends up being like stepmania, i.e. you can't mash or boo out of a song if you get angry lol.

2nd question: When third style is released, R1 will still be updated and treated the same way as it is now?

Third style IS R1.. It isn't called R3, it's called Third Style.. R1 is slowly becoming 3rd style..

And I hope they don't add holds =X

There most likely won't be holds. It would change the entire structure of the game concerning scoring.

Not only that, but looking at things from a coding angle, I would expect it to require a totally new way of working things, much like R2 works things in a totally different way.

Personally, now that speed mods are out, I don't think this stuff really matters much. I would like to see a frames per second boost, but it doesn't really matter.

Well, R1 is becoming R3, just like Wootsicle said. There were going to be speed mods, and there now is. Just watch. Maybe when scottish gives a date that actually exists, 3rd style MIGHT come out...
