Whenever I play FFR, the game glitches or how should i say skips im not really sure. But it causes me to lose my combo and it's getting really annoying. Has this happend to anyone else? Or is there a way to solve this?

Yes, semi-regularly it seems. From what I've read in other topics, it's all on our end of things, not the game's end. What can help is running as few programs and background processes as possible, turning down the quality of the game, checking to make sure you have the newest version of Flash, and maybe clearing your cache. If none of this solves it, I guess it's just your computer. As someone (Afrobean?) said, buy a new computer. :P But really, I don't get it either. OK, my computer was basically top of the line when I bought it 2 years ago and it has been surpased by newer machines. But it's still a good machine. So what kind of requirements does FFR have to run flawlessly? Are they really *that* high? From what I gather, yes, it takes extremely high computer spec to run perfectly, no pauses. Personally I find that a little ridiculous, but apparently there's nothing that can be done about it.

Turn on low quality. If it still does it, clear your cache.
If it still does it and you're on XP, check your processes and end anything that you don't know what is, running under your username (leave all the stuff running under System and etc). A lot of people have random junk running in the background, and you don't need it. If you have all programs closed, the only processes that should be running under your username are EXPLORER.EXE and taskmgr.exe.
If it STILL does it, your computer is out of date. Don't worry, mine is too. Just remember that even though ONE part of your computer may be really good (good processor, good RAM, good video card, etc), if anything else is really sucky, it can still slow everything down.
EDIT: I just noticed, ever since this horrible layout change, if you turn off images in your browser it runs a bit better!
You may want to try that.

What's "really sucky"? What *does* FFR require to run flawlessly? What computer stats will keep the game from pausing on you? That's what I want to know, but no one ever seems to be able to list them. Doesn't anyone know for sure?
I tried turning off images, but I'm not sure it helped a whole lot. Maybe some. I think all of us with this problem are just stuck dealing with it until we can afford new computers. Then we have to hope they don't up the requirements on the game. :P

When you say 'glitching', do you mean every now and then it just lags for a second or two, then starts up, but by then you've lost your combo? Yeah, it happens to me too. I don' think you can do anything about it. If it's really bad, get rid of spyware, try a different browser and check for viruses or trojans.Comment

Dronak, I'm not sure anybody will ever know.. partly because it's hard to define "flawless" in this sense. It's hard to draw a line. My computer "glitches" every once in awhile, but it has never thrown me off, so does that count as flawless? Sometimes it glitches so little that I hardly notice it, but just barely. How much better than my computer would it have to be?
But this is on low quality.
It's also hard to tell what will provide a flawless FFR experience, becuase there's so much variation between computer hardware. You can't say "My computer runs FFR perfectly and it has 512 MB of RAM, therefore if you have 512 MB of RAM your FFR should run perfectly." It's hard to tell what's slowing it down.
I know what's screwing up my computer: my video card. I have a HORRIBLE video card. But I suspect for most people it's probably RAM.
Edit: Anticrombie reminded me of something. Your browser plays part in this. DO NOT PLAY FFR ON LINUX, it doesn't work unless you like playing very very very badly out of sync stepfiles. This is a bug in flash on Linux. Arrows will never be synced with the music.
But on Windows, there are some browsers you should not use, Mozilla and Opera being them mostly. And I mean Mozilla classic. Firefox seems (to me) to be the best browser for FFR. Most people say IE, but I tried it in both browsers plenty. Firefox seemed to provide a whole lot of smoothness that IE didn't.
This wasn't until the 0.9 upgrade. BEFORE 0.9 it's slower. AFTER 0.9 it's faster.
Maybe it's just my settings, who knows.C is for Charisma, it's why people think I'm great! I make my friends all laugh and smile and never want to hate!Comment

I play online, but now it says I have to clear my cache or download again...
I lost all my credits - back to 0! Help! How do I clear my cache?
OK I found how to do it in another thread.
In Internet Explorer (IE), go to TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS
then under "General", click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
Close IE and then open IE again... Whew! I thought I lost everything!
Maybe this "clear your cache" should be a sticky post up at the top of
General Talk. It would help a lot of those who are lost like me.Comment

In-browser games have absolutely nothing to do with your video card. You could be missing your video card and still be able to play FFR perfectly. It's mainly based on Processor speed and RAM.I know what's screwing up my computer: my video card. I have a HORRIBLE video card. But I suspect for most people it's probably RAM.
I use Opera and it works perfectly. I've never experienced a problem with either of the browsers, in fact, they tend to be a little faster than IE.But on Windows, there are some browsers you should not use, Mozilla and Opera being them mostly.Comment
