    FFR Needs More/Better Beginner Songs

Stepcharting has come a long way in the last 12-14 years, but still a large percentage of our lower difficulty charts are dated and poorly stepped. A better mix of low difficulty songs may help newer players stick with the game.

I was looking at all the songs released in 2016, and the number of new charts in the 1-30 range was abysmal. Maybe we could have a 'Beginners Chart' special batch to improve the average quality of our lower difficulty range?

Re: FFR Needs More/Better Beginner Songs

Having played every file below difficulty 60 and having AAA every file below difficulty 40, I'd say that there's plenty of good beginner files.

What I would agree on, which may provide the perception expressed, is that there is many more poor filess in the lower difficulties than in the higher ones.

Thus far, I've actually found a lack of variety and suitable difficulty curve in the high 30s through low 50s to be the most problematic part of my climb thus far, which I've only just recently overcome.

I think notably there's a void in things like jacking and jumpstream for beginner level players, which makes transitioning into those kind of files at higher levels more difficult. Things like chords and such are pretty lacking at lower levels too.

That'd be really fun to be honest.

Chart is not correct either, while we're at it.

I should honestly just start calling them something new.

Man we're really lacking beginner zones in this game.

When the game isn't fun for you anymore, take a break. It's not a job, nobody here is professional and getting paid to play and force themselves to constantly improve... it's a game.

stepfile (file) and stepchart (chart) are both correct. Beatmap (map) is from osu and get that trash out of here.

As for there being more/better beginner files. Yeah, it would definitely help to keep new users if there was more variety as well as higher quality stuff in the lower range. Legacy genre continues to causes newbs to "wtf is this shitty game".

"Chart" isn't correct within the canon of FFR, "file" only be acceptable as "stepfile" appears in the info box for levels. If we accept "chart", as a loan from stepmania all we have is light-hearted (or not so light-hearted, whatever the case) circle jerking against osu! to save us from "map" (I must unfortunately have some respect for osu!, as MWC is literally the only reason I'm here right now). That being said "level" is entirely correct because the song swfs are named "level_<id>.swf"

making easy charts is boring so people rush them and thats why most are garbage. or people pick boring songs to step which also makes them garbage.
