    Left Arrow: Left Index Finger
    Up Arrow: Right Middle Finger
    Down Arrow: Right Index Finger
    Right Arrow: Right Ring Finger

I find this style very comfortable except when there are doubles between the up and right arrows. My ring finger is teh suck at jackhammers.

        Left arrow=pointer finger
        Right arrow=finger next to pinky
        down arrow=middle finger
        up arrow=middle finger

Maybe I'm just wierd, but here's an example of how I may play a decently hard level.

          Starting off:
          left-middle: left
          left-index: down
          right-middle: up
          right-ring: right

then... OMG, have to scratch my nose.

          Switch to:
          right-index: left
          right-middle: up/down
          right-right: right

Ah, well with that done, I'll either go back to one, or if it's a repedative pattern, I'll probably switch over to:
          left-index: left/down/up
          right-index: right/down/up

Then if the pattern gets a bit to rough for me (I'm not the best with 2 fingers), I'll move to:
          left-middle: left
          left-index: up/down
          right-index: right/up/down

Then it's just a hop a skip and a jump back to my original position:
          left-middle: left
          left-index: down
          right-middle: up
          right-ring: right

And I can still get within the top 20 on most any FFR songs.

If you wanna play one-handed your gonna have to practice ALOT. But I play the basic four finger setup...but I did play one-handed.

Don't take my advice 4 eye am a nooblet, but I used to go it one hand, but now I'm trying to practice with two.

I put left middle on left key, left index on up key, right index on down key, and right middle on right key.

This makes the most sense to me, but also consider that my playing style is for the arrows to move in an upward motion, so directionally it makes sense so it's easier. If you were to have a different playing style then it all changes.

              To each his own

BTW... how do you make the stats show up at the bottom? (yes I'm a noob)

Newbie here, too, but so far I've just been using the arrow keys the same way I always do -- right index finger on the left arrow, right middle finger on up and down arrows, right ring/third finger on the right arrow. I do get the feeling that this is a bit restrictive and using both hands may allow for better play. But it seems like trying to get two hands over on keys that close together will feel awkward. Trying to find a comfortable position for fingers and hands seems tough. But maybe I'll try a pattern here if it feels OK.

The term 'noob', 'newbie', 'n00b' or any variation thereof makes me feel like cringing. It sounds bloody stupid and when you see it all over the place, you learn to hate.

And, to the topic of the thread,
                    Previously one-hander, now indexes.

I'll also note something about the stats sig that I read in another thread -- you have to get a high enough score before it will work for you. As I understand it, you have to have a rank or 150000 or better before the sig will work for you. I guess below that, the board doesn't think it's worth showing off your stats.

Using just the index fingers could work OK. A little more moving and changing around, but that might be a little easier than trying to get two fingers from each hand on the keys. Well, I can play around with trying out various finger positions when I have time.

yea...i think that was my board you gave me the answer...thanks alot!

And about the fingers, I use the same as baseball...
                        index on left,
                        middle on up/down,
                        ring on right...

but if it has the up and down thing at the same time...I stretch out my middle so i could hit both keys .....I sometimes strain alot if it goes back and forth...like up and down then right and left, then up and down....i hate that..

b who u r and say what u feel cause those who mind dont matter, and those who matter don\'t mind

i actually use the number pad like a mini dance pad. i normally use both of my index fingers and "dance" on it much like i do ddr, except i double step the crossovers.

                            I play with both hands:

                            Left Middle on Left
                            Left index on Down
                            Right index on Up
                            Right Middle on right
