    Need a new keyboard

Alright so, this keyboard has done it's duty for a few years now and needs replacing.

If high tier FFR and SM players could lay me down some recommendations as to what KB's they think are well suited for smashing arrows (Pro's and cons if possible); then you would help me greatly.

I have used a Razor Turantula and Black Widow.

    Thanks.

        also, http://www.staiain.net/StepMania/smw....php/Keyboards

If you want a flat kb, most popular are the logitech illuminated ($80) and kensington slimtype ($25)
more info on mechanical kbs (blue/brown switches), etc. in this thread: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/....php?p=3816318

          Well, I'm actually getting a QPAD Mk-50 keyboard. I heard it's worth the buy. It's around $115-130 and the mk-80's are $170-190 I believe.

How much are you willing to spend anyways?

if you can afford, qpad mk-80 with brown switches(imo) or blue switches -- you can read about switches

i use rosewill rk-9000 with brown switches and it works well for me. cost about $100.

Then a mk-50 keyboard honestly might be your best bet. I will assure you it will be worth it.

Bolded the flat keyboards that are pretty cheap, and they're really worth the price. I'd recommend blue or brown switches for the mech KBs.

                      Re: Need a new keyboard

In my experience Logitechs are indestructible to a high point, so if you're hard on your keyboard you may wanna look in that direction.

Also I have nothing but issues with the Razer Lycosa (Mirror edition), and recommend you avoid it completely.

                      Issues:

Keys start to stick after average FFR use (Playing every few days or so.)
Drivers it comes with are pointless and limit you more than help you. (Last I'd checked, I refuse to reinstall them so I don't risk having to deal with them)
The keys will literally indent into the keyboard which makes them unusable for ffr / sm but they'll still work for everyday typing. (My o key is like this and before I had it replaced the p key did the same thing, and I had it replaced 6 months after getting it, which for a 70 dollar keyboard I find completely unacceptable.)
Cleaning under the keys is a pain in the ass.
The finish wears off if you don't keep your nails trimmed to a point where it seems like you're cutting them every day.

                      tldr: Go anywhere else.

In my experience, it's quite the opposite, as one of my keys fell off of my Logitech Illuminated when playing stepmania after two months of use. It was still the best flat kb I ever used, and I still use it to play index cause the keys are so soft.

Pretty much Razers are like apple products.

I had a cheep Logitech I had gotten from a garage sale for a dollar that I literally threw across the room and tried to split it on my knee in half. It took no damage from any of that. And yes I threw it on multiple occasions. I've yet to run into one that I can destroy easily.

(I later broke off 10 keys via slamming my mouse on the keyboard. I've gotten a lot better about my ffr rage since this.)

But yeah it's all gonna very per person I suppose.

I've had my kensington slimtype for a year, and the nobs which make the scissor-key action possible finally broke on one key. (mind you, I did the game whore competition with it)

It's fun playing keyboard surgeon and transplanting key modules from an unused key to my active sm/ffr setup.
