    Advice?

    Oh hi FFR~

So I have a new goal, and I could use your advice.

My goal is to jump from D1 to D3 by the start of next FFR official. I am right now using the R^2 Engine at 2.4 speed. Keys are DFJK

I guess what im really asking is how do you all skillboost? I know this topic has been brought up a bunch of times im sure, but I dunno, thoughts?

    Ty 'yall

      Re: Advice?

play a lot of hard songs (for you, maybe 60-70 range?) until you can hit the patterns. Go back to the lower difficulties and AAA them.

the hard songs will adjust your confidence so you can play the lower ones with ease. Going back to AAA old files helps your confidence on the hard songs so that you might get lucky some time and AAA a hard song.

I've actually gained better PA by reducing my scroll speed. Find out what speed you can do decent on (like 2.4 for example) and drop it 10-20%.

Every time you get a good ask yourself why it's happening and what can you do or try to do to avoid making it happen again. You'll get to D3 in no time that way.

It also depends on what your problem is. Some players use obscenely fast speedmods (see KrazyKistune). On Rsquared I use 2.5 but even then that engine is not suitable for AAA scoring for me.

You need to determine which engine works best for you, if you have reading problems, and if you have pattern problems. The Velocity Engine gives me the best scores and I use 1.75x on it.

switch to a keyboard with thinner keys for the best results. Your wrists will have more endurance AND speed that way.

Using a mechanical keyboard (ones with thick keys) is arguably better than using a keyboard with flat keys, but that's a matter of preference anyway.

The best advice you can get is to play harder files that you have problems PA-ing (without mashing, of course), no pain no gain basically.

If you can AAA 9s (old scale), try low 10s/mid 10s, like The Final Conflict, Wish (For FFR), or any file that you probably would get more than 20 goods on and a somewhat messy score on. If you keep playing them, you'll improve those, and how you fair on harder files overall.

                      Re: Advice?

Focus on your weaknesses and learning how to control your fingers using only your wrists are key. In your stage, you just need to focus on accuracy first then move on to speed. If you are trying to get better faster, then follow these general tips:

                      - Make sure you stretch your wrists properly before playing.

                      - Make sure you eat something healthy and light before playing. It keeps your mind focused and you will perform better. Playing while hungry will make you not perform very well.

                      - If possible, try to schedule a time to play so that you can head to sleep right after you finish playing FFR. You will be surprised how much faster skill boosting will happen once you sleep right after you play. Make sure you get good sleep though or else it will not work as effectively.

                      - DO NOT PLAY EVERYDAY. Play every other day. You will save more time and effort. (You can play the next day at times if you are bored though. Just do not do it very often or you will just be wasting your time).

                      - Make sure you hit the gym once in a while. A strong-slim body actually helps believe it or not.

                      - If your hands/wrists hurts, STOP. Do not try fighting it though. You will just kill your wrists in the long run.

I could type out much deeper secrets but come on, I can't tell you everything :3

                            mfw D3 in 8th official is D1 from 7th.

But seriously, you should warm up a bit (or a lot depending on the person) on songs you enjoy playing before attempting to play serious/skillboost. It'll save a lot of frustration.

I'd argue it's healthier for your wrists, but I'm not sure where to take that one.

I do know when switching to a keyboard with thick keys it really hurts my wrists after a few songs, as opposed to one with a thinner setup.
