Got Stepmania working without lag tonight (huge thanks to stian and also eze for helping me get it working)
showed off a couple dozen unreleased files that i had lying around, joked around, had a good time
I think in the future i will go back to streaming when I step files. Last time i did that i had a lot of people asking cool questions and it was fun to explain why i was doing stuff as I did it, and it actually helped me focus on the file too. So stay tuned for that
Any hope in the future of having a way for people to see FFR players that are streaming other games or will those always have to be shared in this thread? (in reference to the live streams section)

The thought has occurred. I can add a fourth column to the /live directory for other games, but it is unlikely that non-rhythm games would be featured on the front page.

I can live with them not being featured.
I was also thinking about the layout: Perhaps have horizontal columns that have a scroll bar to peruse, rather than vertical columns? It would allow for them to have a lot more streams without lengthening the page.
That or you could have collapsible sections for each game so you can collapse stream content you don't care about and only see current streams for important things.
If we did something like that we'd need you to somehow register your username into a custom API on FFR. Let's get FFR done first before we go adding more crazy features.

thanks to everyone who was watching!
oh wow, people actually tuned in for you? I've always wanted to share some insights/techniques on why I do certain things for keyboard charting but always assumed that no one would ever watch (people like ilikexd said they've had relatively small results when trying to stream themselves charting, haha).
When I was streaming stepping a few months ago, each time I would have about 6-12 viewers.
Usually 2-3 people asking questions and really learning, 2-6 non-chatting (maybe afk) viewers, and then 2-3 established steppers like Nathan or Luis who would pop in occasionally to also help explain things, correct me when needed, provide alternate opinions for the patterns I used, and/or troll me.
Honestly it was quite fun. As long as there was just one person asking questions and learning (which there always was), I enjoyed it.
Also, relevant: probably going to stream stepping a few different files starting in about half an hour.
Much more in a stepping mood than I was last night haha
EDIT- Stream's over. Streamed for 4 hours of pretty much solid stepping.
Did the first half of a pretty generic 40ish difficulty dubstep song (<3 Monstercat)
Then did about half of a pretty difficult (currently mid70s) Shnabubula jazz song.
Also gave some long examples of how to smooth out BPM changes in dicksynced charts so that they aren't dumb on amod & xmod, and gave a tutorial on how I do jumpstreams.
Ended by playing another unreleased WIP that I have for FFR.
Had 20 viewers at one point, but the chat was pretty dead. Not as many people asking questions as the first few times I streamed stepping a few months ago.
Not sure how I should be more engaging when streaming stepping, or just resign myself to the fact not many people are interested and take what I can get.
Thoughts are appreciated.
Can someone help me? I want to live stream Flash Flash Revolution on Flash Player 9 (Standalone), so I downloaded XSPLIT Gamers version as recommended. It won't bring up the interface I need to record. I tried looking up tutorials, but nothing helped. I tried other forums to see if anyone had mentioned this same problem but found nothing.
It says to hold Ctrl and Tab to bring up the streaming interface on Flash 9 but doesn't appear when I use the hot keys. I tried changing the hotkeys to F12 then ~ but nothing worked.

You've never felt intimacy until you've practiced Jiu Jitsu ground techniques with the only girl in class
When you download XSplit Broadcaster (not Gamecaster), the installation finishes up, and you have the program on your desktop:
Open the program, a loading box should show up. It'll then pop open the login box along with the Broadcaster interface.
From there you can add video sources (the Flash Player screen) and audio sources if you want (your mic). I've never really used the hotkeys. Do make sure it's Broadcaster you have, though.
