Gonna start streaming in about an hour or so, basics of setting up to step files. Full beginner tutorial, answering any questions you guys have.

If you've wanted to learn to step files but didn't know where to start this would be a good thing to watch!
I'll also be archiving the footage and hopefully save it so people who can't watch live can watch and learn.

I saved them. Processing them tonight, I'll have em posted.

Part 1: Covered some really basic stuff such as how to download Stepmania, what a .sm file is (probably should have prepared better for this, been a while since I edited a .sm file in notepad so you can see me searching my memory pretty hard lol) and then where to download DDReam and the real basics of getting a music file into DDReam.

Part 2: Covered the most simple example of syncing in DDReam. Used {Rose} as an example song, showed how to sync a constant BPM song, how to make BPM changes, and attempted to explain the convoluted "BPM artifacts" issue with DDReam and why the "Save as Single BPM" option exists and is important.

Part 3: Covered the basics on how to sync a complex, multi-BPM live metal song with slowdowns and lots of subtle BPM changes. Used Posion of the Earth by Reaping Asmodeia as the example song, shoutouts to TC_Meteor for showing me the band (he's the singer for it!) and giving me the song.


In the future I plan on covering more complex DDReam techniques:
Core among the things I plan to cover are sub-beats and their many uses, such as color theory, syncing songs with irregular time signatures, and more. I will definitely make this tutorial on sub-beats soon, but I want to see what kind of reception these first 3 parts get before I do.

For the first few tutorial vids I want to focus primarily on the mechanics of stepping: using the programs and how to get everything to work.
In the future I might also make a series of videos on more stylistic things, such as how I make jumpstreams and my way of using minijacks, stuff that people ask me frequently but are much more opinion-based instead of just the 100% cold facts on how to use DDReam.

Anyway once they are processed and posted to YouTube I'll make a thread in the Stepmania forums where people can hopefully ask questions and stuff.

@hi19, made a pair of files and they're pretty fun, haha! Once I get a couple more it'd be cool if some other people could take a look at them for feedback and see if I show any promise lol

Trying a different hour for streaming, 5PM on the east coast, maybe a little early as many of the people who watch me are from the west coast but we'll give this time window a shot.
