CONTINUATION OF OCTOBER 18, 2011 BATCH
kommisar
404th of July [6/10]
-I'd suggest maybe making your 32nd patterns a little more fluent. m36/37 is an example. seems a little too cluttered and is probably frustrating for the player to try and hit perfectly. perhaps alternate the patterns a little?
-The file isn't bad at all, but the patterns suggest that this could use a little more work. Also around the end I'm sure you could throw in a few more jumps (I'm not quite certain what you're following with the jumps here).
A Fallen Dirtbag [4/10]
-I can't help but think the hi-hats could be implemented in the beginning to give it a fuller feeling
-m28 it may be for an effect, but I can't hear any 24ths.
-during this section where the wub wub first kicks in, the hi-hats (again yes I'm sorry) in here could add some cool polyrhythms to make it a little more difficult since this seems fairly easy.
-end of m33 you start the 32nds a 4th late.
-m35 just because it's a sustained note, shouldn't mean this section warrants a 32nd wall
-m38 this whole part seems improvised and it's not really following anything. I'm sure there's a better way to do this.
-m48/49 24ths, much like the 32nds, don't really follow anything and are added for effect.
-m53 again, sounds that don't exist.
-This file has plenty of potential and has lots of fun parts, but the invisible bursts need to go.
About Happiness [7/10]
-end of m28 those 32nds are questionnable. I just hear 16ths
-m42 we've had this debate about the prominent sounds not being stepped here (cowbell) but you explained it was the background melody so whatev.
-rest of file is great.
All Y'all Bitches [7/10]
-feels like an old-school m1dy file which isn't exactly a bad thing
-very straight forward file, no complaints.
Betrayal [8/10]
-m49 I believe you missed a jump on the 8th note after the first 4th (bass drum)
-Patterns are great for this speed (except m135 you totally killed it haha), rhythms are very precise and accurate. This is how hard files should be stepped.
Car Sax [6/10]
-seems like a polyrhythmic mess with 4th mini jacks in between
-starts off great, but I don't feel much flow to this with the polyrhythmic patterns in this.
Chipscape [7/10]
-m19 I'm going to complain about the 32nd bursts here not because they're not warranted, but because at this speed this burst pattern can be quite the buzz kill. I think this could flow better. Especially end of m32 where there's a 32nd close to an 8th note.
-that ending is pretty cool, but on ffr without any visual effect it just seems like a long broken pause waiting for the last arrow. maybe this could be shortened?
Chipscape (DarkZtar) [3/10]
-sync feels a little early
-m10 these bursts completely kill the file
-the bursts everywhere in this really need to be looked at. they don't flow at all and seem just thrown in.
-needs a lot of work with patterns.
Corporal Jigsaw Quandary [9/10]
-jumps to accents very well executed here
-16th patterns are great during the speedup. nothing completely bs (they are also indexable which helps a lot)
-Fantastic file.
Do I Smile? [9/10]
-Oh god did you step the speedup
-yes you did. Could not have stepped this better myself.
Earth Tower Devotion [7/10]
-there seems to be some difficulty transitioning between melody and snare rolls
-aside from that feels like a pretty anti-climactic file because of the song choice
Excite Bike [2/10]
-sure this is better than the original sm file, but it's still short and awful to play. sorry.
Excite ~OMG~ Bike [2/10]
-I'm not sure 370+ bpm was necessary lol. feels incredibly overlayered and unfun.
Extratone Pirates [7/10]
-I could nitpick at the 32nd burst patterns but they're still accurate tonality wise.
-great file otherwise.
Freedom Dive [7/10]
-Can't help but think adding some hands at the start would help fill it up a bit
-m23 you completely ignore the crashes which would be a nice accent here.
-Well, it's freedom dive there isn't much to add.
Fried Eggs in my Ear [8/10]
-this is creepy yet great. found nothing wrong.
Gravity Blast [4/10]
-during the whole first section, the 64ths really aren't necessary
-during this whole file actually. distracts from how simple the file actually is. there isn't a need for colored notes.
-song was done on LSDJ. there shouldn't be any colored notes no matter how well you sync this.
Halcyon [8/10]
-wow love the accentuation in this song. feels like a new-age cynthia file
Head Banger [5/10]
-right off the bat you ignore the guitar 16ths
-this whole first section is completely overlayered
-look over those sections and fix them up. the rest of the file is fine.
Husigi Usagi Milk Tei [7/10]
-Nothing really wrong about this odd file aside from difficulty spikes
I Love Orange Things [8/10]
-played this file many times already. opinion doesn't really change.
Love & Justice [5/10]
-feels like one long jumpstream. sometimes you shift away from jumpstreams to add 4th jump sections
-Aside from this being a long jumpstream file I can't see anything really appealing about this.
Music [7/10]
-Aside from being a typical jumpstream file this doesn't offer much more than the other 230948302 js files in ffr already. this does have a great ending section which makes up for that though.
Nauticus' Tradgic Past Revealed [!]
-I already know I'm going to reject this since there isn't much option for how to step this when the song is meant to be a complete joke.
-Pretty sure you messed up the .sm when you saved it because there are no bpm changes at all and it's at a constant 60bpm.
Pale [6/10]
-the one complaint I always have about this song is the painfully long start which drags on forever
-m105 you forgot 16ths after the 2nd 4th
-m119 sections like these I honestly don't understand why people add bursts to funky sounds just because it's radically different. I don't think this should warrant 64th bursts
-m138 forgot another 16th after the 2nd 8th note
Pandora [9/10]
-YES THIS IS HOW BURSTS SHOULD BE DONE IN A FILE. EVERYONE PLAY THIS FILE AND LEARN.
-Fantastic file, brings ffrcp2 nostalgia
PARTY TIME [3/10]
-really repetitive and generic. only has jump jump jump jumpstream jump jump jump written all over it. Sorry.
Piano Etude (Demon Fire) [8/10]
-can't really complain. wc has piano files pretty much mastered.
Purple Haze [6/10]
-m12 there's no reason these bass kicks should be hands. it's just overlayered at this point. In other sections the hands are well placed however.
-m34 there's no reason to have those 32nds there
-Aside from that the file is pretty solid.
Rainbow Dash Likes Girls [5/10]
-very very repetitive. nothing ever changes in this during the whole first section
-if the rest of the file was like the 2nd half I'd have no problem with this, but the song doesn't offer you much to work with at the start.
Rave7 [5/10]
-m17 it jumps from 24th streams to a completely empty section. feels really inconsistent
-file looks like quite the mess. there isn't much of a way to know what's going on at this point. it feels like every sound was stepped for the sake of difficulty. visually it looks overlayered.
Rotary Slicers [8/10]
-Great file, patterns are coherent and flow quite well.
Scrap Syndrome [8/10]
-color note accentuations are done correctly for once. kudos
Slashmaid [6/10]
-First 3 notes are the same accentuation, same instrument, same intensity. technically these should all be jumps
-m38 the snare hits are on syncopations, which would mean it would make more sense to place the jumps on the 8th notes
-m46 the guitar hits could be done as jumps to help get a better feel of it
-m78 there's a lot of up/down trilling going on here. Perhaps to help diversify, switch up the patterns a little more during this section.
-file isn't bad at all, but with some fixes could be a little better even.
Solros [6/10]
-m18 the tambourine you were following seems to be a little forgotten.
-m37 I'm not entirely sure I follow these 24ths
-Watch for your tambourine 16ths. there are quite a few missing throughout the song.
Speedcore 300 [1/10]
-m10 you decide not to step the bass drum 8ths anymore for no reason
-m30 there is really nothing that warrants 16th gallops
-needs a complete overhaul
Storm Raid Battle [!]
-no file for this song
Super Mario Bros. Theme [7/10]
-sometimes don't quite agree with some of the vocal layering in the middle of runs which makes it sort of cluttered
-file is pretty fun
System Doctor [4/10]
-file sync is very late
-has huge difficulty spikes which sometimes makes the difficulty of the file questionnable
-with the sync fix I don't think this would be too bad.
The Bird's Concrete Nosedive [7/10]
-I'm a little disappointed at the lack of jumps during the runs that could make it feel a little fuller rather than just single note bursts and runs.
-later on file feels much better. bursts are also well managed.
The Bird's Poisoned Bathwater [7/10]
-Very strange file with no real structure, but nothing really wrong.
Trisection (Reshiram) [6/10]
-layering the guitar notes as jumps is fine but becomes a little much as the song goes on pattern wise.
-m20 the layering is fine, but the quads are over the top
-during the 2nd 24th run you shouldn't really layer the 16th guitars with it. too cluttered
-pretty solid file.
Trisection (trumaestro) [6/10]
-m4 the drum roll included would've been a nice touch
-the jumps here flow pretty well. much less layered than reshiram's but you missed some stuff that he didn't percussion wise.
-the 2nd 24th part you decided not to step the jumps this time which kinda clashes with the first part.
Tsugihagi Construction [7/10]
-great pitch relevancy
-not sure if the 64th note bass drum accentuations are necessary since you don't follow them later on anyways
-really fun file.
WEYX [7/10]
-I'm not sure how people will feel playing a 6 minute song lol
-the file is technically correct and has its replay value and epic factor, but I'll leave it up to jx.
Zombie Sunset [8/10]
-excellent file.

{Lazy Summer Days} [Remix] (Dossar vs. qqwref) - PASS
404th of July (megamon88) - 6/10
Playtest: The patterns were pretty interesting, but they were also really ugly. You've got weird layered rolls (like m6), non-jumptrillable rolls (m8-m9), a bunch of things with 64ths that are really hard to make out (m24-m25), rolls with a jump in the middle (m32-33), and all of those are pretty icky to read and hit. They're generally still jumptrillable but this will be the kind of file a lot of people will rage over (especially those tryig to PA it), and patternwise I don't really think it's appropriate for the game. My recommendation would be that instead of trying to step two different roll noises as a single 32nd roll with a weird change in the middle, you should dumb down the quieter noise to 24ths - it would provide an obvious visual change without being annoying to read.
Editor: Why the lone 16ths in m4? (They're really hard to hear.) There's a missing 8th at the end of m6 and a missing 4th in m9 (the drums are still hitting that beat). The 16th roll in m19 should be reversed for PR's sake. I'd remove the first 8th in m50.
A Fallen Dirtbag (ScarletSky) - 8/10
Playtest: Overall this chart was neat and did a good job of representing the song. There were some questionable patterns but most of it is quite good.
Editor: The 24th bits in m28 and m30 (and possibly other places?) would better represent the song if they were quicker notes - for instance, four 32nds ending at the same note instead of four 24ths. The 16th and 32nd part around the start of m34 should be the same speed the whole way (i.e. 32nds). The long roll to reversing staircase thing in m35 is a lot harder to hit than indicated by the song, and I'd suggest just ending it at the start of m36 rather than having the minijack patterns. The long roll in m38-39 would probably feel better if you moved the 24ths and 16ths back half a measure (and left half a measure of space after it). The 64th pattern in m53 is a lot harder than necessary (although still hittable at least) and I suggest replacing it with a burst - something like a left 4th note and then three fast notes in a 234 sequence, kinda like the ones in m61 but with more space after the first note. I'd also suggest to change the 32nd burst in m38 to eliminate the 16th jack. I know this is a lot of comments, but I think with some changes this would be a really fun chart.
About Happiness (leonid) - 5/10
Playtest: There are several things in this file that make it annoying - the long 8th jacks that don't really go to the song (such as m72-m88), the large number of minijacks that really don't feel like they belong, and That One 32nd Pattern that you keep using. Plus, certain patterns really feel like they were stepped too heavily or too awkwardly, like the jumptrill in m56, and m144/m148/m152. There are definitely some good things here - the right notes in the intro and the long jumpstream after the first big pause come to mind - but it needs some serious reworking to be fun to play.
Editor: Basically you just really overdid this chart, stepping even things that are really quiet. Tone down the parts listed above and don't use minijacks unless the song really calls for them - the ones in m158 and m162 are fine, for instance.
All Y'all Bitches (megamon88) - 9/10
Playtest: This was really fun, definitely the kind of file I enjoy playing. Heavy jumpstream that makes sense with the song, good bpm changes, and some patterns that are tough but not overly awkward (such as the rolls into hands).
Editor: Looks good to me.
Betrayal (samurai7694) - 4/10
Playtest: I didn't really feel a lot of cohesion with the song. There were a lot of places where the layering seemed essentially random, with jumps going to things I simply wasn't hearing. In addition, I have to criticize your use of long 8th jacks and 16th trills - trying to combo those sections will prevent almost every player from having fun playing this chart. And, to be honest, the stream patterns outside of those just aren't very interesting or pleasant to hit.
Editor: Just look over all of the faster 8th sections - the jumps and 8th jacks should go to obvious things in the song, but right now they just feel placed in randomly. There were also places where I thought you were layering the vocals until the vocals took a break and the vocals didn't, so please just choose something obvious to do and then keep consistent about it.
Car Sax (who_cares973) - 8/10
Playtest: Pretty fun file with some really weird and interesting patterns. The minijacks with 24ths between them were pretty awkward, though; I know it would be a very different file, but I think it would be better with those patterns made easier.
Editor: I'm not really feeling the 32nds in m9 (patternwise) and the 48ths in m41 seem too hard for what's going on in the song. Otherwise looks really good.
Chaos Maid (Kommisar) - 9/10
Playtest: This is really fun and FFR needs more charts like this. A little overlayered-feeling, and pretty heavy on the one-handed trills, but it's a great file anyway.
Editor: I hear some notes between the 4ths in m45. You layered it more than I would, but it does make sense.
Chipscape (DarkZtar) - 4/10
Playtest: I like the concept of using the 64th bursts to accentuate the buzz noises, but the way they were used in this file was incredibly awkward to hit - not only were many of the bursts on all four notes, but you included 16ths into them, which essentially results in a minijack into a quad. Plus, these things are hard to read when they're all layered in with everything like that. There were also several other parts that were really awkward, such as m43, m53, m61, m131, m141, and m149. Plus, having a series of minijacks at this speed is really harsh, and you totally overdid the one-handed trills here. Overall this will NOT a fun file to score on.
Editor: More PR on the slow parts is needed - that part of the file will be way more satisfying if it carefully matches the melody. You also seemed to add some 16ths that weren't there, like the one before the roll in m27 (and probably in similar places too).
Chipscape (Ziergdsx18) - 7/10
Playtest: This looked pretty good overall. The jumpstream patterns were fun and not too awkward; the only real problem is that the patterns with 32nds tended to be really ugly and weird to hit, such as m27, m31, and m65. Nice use of halved bpm, too. Also, about that last note... I was expecting something interesting at the end
Editor: I'd like to see more PR on the slow parts. Otherwise, looks solid.
Corporal Jigsaw Quandary (samurai7694) - 9/10
Playtest: Very solid chart. The stream was really tough but you put in some interesting and varied patterns, and you obviously gave the slower parts some attention too as the patterns and layering there made plenty of sense.
Editor: Seems good.
do i smile (_.Spitfire._) - 5/10
Playtest: It's certainly an interesting chart, I'll give you that. The slow sections were really nice, and the first part of the speedup was quite good. The problems were in the faster or longer jacking sections such as m8-9, m24-25, m77-84, m107-120, m124, m155-156; it gets too hard to combo, and considering this is FFR that's a significant problem. The patterns really need to be toned down or broken up to be acceptable.
Editor: The layering and patterns make sense.
Earth Tower Devotion (leonid) - 7/10
Playtest: Most of this chart was really fun and flowed very nicely. Certain parts, such as the middle of m18 and the end of m37, really overdid the 24th jacks, though. That made the patterns feel unpleasant to play, and I'd suggest not including any jumps at all in the middle of 48th streams. The ending, where you layered 24th jumps into the 32nds, was also annoying, and would be better if toned down a bit so it didn't feel so messy and dense.
Editor: The entire m40-46 section feels really empty without any of the bursts in it - why didn't you include them? The file overall feels overlayered, but I think if you get rid of the difficulty spikes in the faster sections it won't have that feeling.
Excite Bike (0) - 4/10
Playtest: It fits the music, I guess. But it's really jacky and not all that fun, and I don't think people will enjoy playing a 9 second FGO. I hate to say this, but this is really not a good song to turn into a hard FFR chart.
Editor: The chart kind of makes sense, but for a few parts I just don't understand why you did what you did. The 48ths in m2 flow really poorly, and the ending 64th roll doesn't fit (the same kind of sound there was ignored everywhere else).
Excite~OMG~ Bike (YOSHl) - 7/10
Playtest: I like what you did with the beginning, but the end feels really overstepped. Lots of jumps and a few minijacks (at basically 189.5 bpm). Instead of trying to make that part as hard as possible, go for a layering/density that makes sense. It's better than it was before, but I still think this should be toned down. If it pushes the song down into VC or less territory, so be it.
Editor: Other than overlayering (and possibly overzealous placement of single notes) in the fast part, it looks technically alright.
Extratone Pirates (Dossar vs. qqwref) - PASS
FREEDOM DIVE (hi19hi19) - 9/10
Playtest: This was a really good chart. Despite the extreme speed, the patterns were actually pretty friendly to hit, and the layering made a lot of sense.
Editor: Makes technical sense, and there's actually some nice PR too.
Fried Eggs In My Ear (samurai7694) - 6/10
Playtest: The song's pretty interesting and the file does a good job of capturing that. However, I'm not a fan of the excessively long 8th jacks, and I think the difficulty spike in m83-90 is a bit much (heavy js at 225 is tough!).
Editor: What does the burst at the end of m17 go to? Also, m21 and m91 feel noticeably empty and could use some more notes (even if they are pretty light).
Gravity Blast (Reshiram) - 7/10
Playtest: I found this to be really fun, with cool jumpstream patterns that weren't fast enough to be awkward, and pretty good steps to the less rhythmic parts. I have a problem with the use of white notes, though. You really overdid it, to the point where several entire sections are colored either all in white notes or in alternate white and yellow. When you use it that much, it ruins the ability of those notes to actually emphasize anything, and adds fake difficulty too. Some of these sections would be really awesome if they were accentuated with minijacks rather than white jumps.
Editor: You ignored the 16ths before the 4th jumps in m74-80, and there are other missing 16ths throughout m89-m104. In fact I think a lot of the almost-pure-8th sections have this issue, and the file would feel much less empty with that fixed.
Halcyon (bmah) - 8/10
Playtest: Really fun and energetic chart, with great use of PR. Some of the bursts are really awkward though (the 24ths in m63 and m70, and arguably some other parts with 12th minijacks) and I do think the file would be more fun to try to score on if those parts flowed better.
Editor: The quad in m59 should have some kind of roll attached to it (maybe 24ths?). I'm not hearing any reason for the minijack in m70.
Head Banger (hi19hi19) - 6/10
Playtest: Those jump/hand 8th gluts are really annoying to hit, and feel overstepped for difficulty. Technically they're okay but the file would flow a lot better if they were toned down (hand/single/single or jump/single/single) - they will still be pretty tricky and keep the feel of the song if you include the 8th jack anchors, but that part won't feel as mashy and awkward. I really like that part where most of the rhythms were in the up/down arrows in m33-m47, though; it fits the song really well and is a pretty bold/unusual move.
Editor: Looks fine, just overstepped.
Husigi Usagi Milk Tei (jimerax) - 5/10
Playtest: This file had some really cool things in it, but they were overshadowed by how incredibly awkward and jacky some sections were. For instance, you have a long jack in m23, a really weird 32nd stream in m25, several jacks/trills/jackwalls in m29-m31, hard jumpjacks in m34, a pretty tough rollwall in m57-m62, and so on - given that FFR is combo scoring, these patterns would completely destroy any fun factor in the song for people who want to score on it. Some of the jacks are fine (like m18 etc.) but the longer and harder ones are just uncomfortable to try to hit. As for awkward parts, the minijack pattern in m4 (etc.) would flow much better without that minijack, and also some of the fast or colored-note bursts like m25, m28, m37, m45, and m90 are just ugly. Also, certain parts of the file feel very repetitive, like the intro (up to m17 or so), and the patterns need to be changed up more to be interesting.
Editor: Some of the faster patterns and 32nd placements are really questionable, and even if the notes are technically in the song they're certainly not going to be obvious when playing at 1.0 rate - for instance the second 32nd note in m39, the 32nd pattern at the end of m50, the 32nd pattern at the end of m55, and the 32nd pattern at the end of m67. You also made a lot of layering choices that I don't understand, like the lack of a jump/hand on the first single 4th note in m19, and a lot of hand/jump placements throughout that don't emphasize anything obvious. I know the song is really busy, but a more obvious layering scheme would make the file a lot more fun to play.
i love (orange things) (ninjaKIWI) - 8/10
Playtest: Nice flowing stream/jumpstream parts, and some interesting patterns. Nothing too awkward, either.
Editor: There are a few spots where I'd like to see some extra notes: the last 4th note in m7, the end of m10, m23-24, the 8th note just before m42 and two more after the first hand in m42, and the very ending (after your last note).
Love & Justice (bmah) - 7/10
Playtest: Pretty nice jumstream file. The beginning flows really nicely, but the later parts could be better, as they are a bit heavy on one-handed trills and non-[12][34] jumptrills. I think the 24ths should be fixed up, as some of them are really awkward if you think about the transitions - for instance m45-47 has a huge part that, if you think about it, is basically a long up jack with some one-handed minitrills. The 24th sections around m70 are pretty unfriendly too because of the 12th jacks, which you could really do without.
Editor: The 8th section in m9-15 is confusing because of the layering; try to make it more clear what's going on, or else fill in the 8th gaps. Lay off on the 16ths for a bit at the start of m49 and m53.
Magical Higan Tour 2009 (Ziergdsx18 & Kommisar) - 9/10
Playtest: Great patterns and PR/climax theory. Really fun file. The trill in m64 is a bit harsh (I'd break it up around the middle 4th note).
Editor: Seems fine, I can understand what's going on everywhere.
Music (For Kirby) (bmah) - 4/10
Playtest: I found this to be an awkward and unpleasant chart. The patterns in the m4-5 section are pretty icky and feel random, there were lots of runningmen in all of the stream/js sections from m8 onwards, and there were many minijacks that seemed to only be there because you decided to put a jump and a hand next to each other. There were also many parts that felt overstepped: the heavier 16th jumpstream sections, most of the polyrhythm parts (especially m4-5 and m31), and that 24th jumpstream in m48. I found the jacks in m67-m83 to be a bit much too, even though they go to the song, and I think that part would annoy almost everyone if this song was put ingame. I also disliked the jacks in m97-98. I think you should cut the ending, since it's so quiet that it's hard to hear the notes, and it's pretty boring/slow too. In general this chart seemed to be trying a bit too much to be difficult, and I'd suggest focusing more on what the song is doing and trying to make the chart flow properly.
Editor: Again some parts are really overstepped and have no flow to them at all because of the necessity to make almost every pattern a jumptrill of some kind. The layering was also an issue, in that I couldn't tell why certain parts where hands . Also, the 24th section starting at m85 seems to vaguely go to something, but it's shifting in and out of audibility, and that part doesn't feel at all natural stepped that way. This chart is mostly accurate, but in some places you tried too hard to be technical and sacrificed all of the potential fun.
Nauticus' Tragic Past Revealed (SkRAWRk) - 1/10
Playtest: Absolutely awful. Almost all of the fast parts - m3, m34-38, m59-end - are incredibly awkward to hit. You actually have several 150bpm 32nd minijacks and even a 150bpm 64th minijack at the very end, not to mention the huge amount of awkward 200bpm 32nd streams with tons of 16th jacks. You obviously didn't put any effort into making the harder patterns playable or fun.
Editor: Suspiciously similar to Zaghurim's chart, except that many of the patterns are even WORSE. Dear god.
Pale (00Razor00) - 4/10
Playtest: Beginning is extremely boring and uninspired. Considering it's so much of the song it absolutely NEEDS PR and some 8th jacks to remain interesting - if you aren't going to do that, cut the whole section. As for the faster part, too much reliance on grace note patterns makes patterns hard to read and awkward, like in m108, m117, and m119. Later on you have more traditional patterns that are still awkward, like long one-handed jumptrills (such as m116, m123, m125, m126, and m137), seemingly unnecessary minijacks (such as m109, m118, and m129). And cut that last note.
Editor: The technicality of this file is okay, but it does need more PR in the easier parts and possibly less layering in the slower parts. Be careful with the grace notes, too; some of them in this file are bordering on recognizable rhythms, and that can make some parts really messy. I think the file could be a lot cleaner, and make a lot more sense, while still maintaining the concept you used.
Pandora (_.Spitfire._) - 7/10
Playtest: Beginning was pretty long/boring (starting around m20 I'd suggest layering it a bit more with the background rhythms), and the ending was too - you might want to completely remove the ending slow part. As for the fast part, it seems reasonable, just really tough.
Editor: On the three graces notes in m4 I only hear one sound. There's a missing 16th between the [12] jumps in m46. I don't hear the 16th right after the [24] jump in m49. I'd reverse the m54 roll for PR. The second-to-last 8th note in m59 should be removed or made a single note. There's a 16th before the roll in m60 (and I think there are some between the rolls but it's fine if you ignore those).
PARTY TIME! (MrPopadopalis25) - 9/10
Playtest: Fun, and reasonably dense; the patterns were pretty nice too. Definitely a good file.
Editor: Technically looks fine.
Piano etude(Demon Fire) (who_cares973) - 3/10
Playtest: So, a heavier and jackier version of the one ingame? It's an okay file (some jack bursts/gluts were really awkward) but considering we already have an FMO chart for PEDF ingame I really don't see the point of this.
Editor: It's accurate, but definitely overlayered in parts (note that doing the dynamics like this would be totally fine in 6k). And there were some slow parts where the lack of PR was quite noticeable.
Purple Haze (Saskrotch Remix) (MrPopadopalis25) - 5/10
Playtest: Some of the patterns in the faster parts are really awkward - in many cases you overdid the patterns and it left you with no nice way to put down the notes. Examples are the first half of m13, the second half of m14, the second half of m21, and m34. At this speed I'd also suggest avoiding 16th minijacks entirely, but that's subjective - if the rest of the file is fine those will be too.
Editor: I don't hear the 16ths in the first half of m6, the first half of m8, or the first half of m10. I don't hear the 32nd in m22. Layer in some more notes in m67-m82, since that part feels really empty. Some of the layering is questionable too, like hands that don't sound at all loud and jumps that blend in with the surrounding notes.
Rain (Kommisar) - 6/10
Playtest: At the start this looked really promising: a nice intro, and some solid stream with good patterns. The trill section from m7-89 is really tough though (too much so for a combo scoring game IMO) and there were some really left-hand biased jumpjacks in m135-136. The ending from m139 on also felt way too empty, and I'd say you should have layered in the background drum stuff all the way through until that final jump.
Editor: There's a missing 24th burst in m72. Otherwise it seemed pretty accurate throughout, excepting the layering density at the very end.
Rainbow Dash Likes Girls [Stay Gay Pony Girl] (megamon88) - 8/10
Playtest: Overall this was a really cool file. I liked the handstream patterns, and the slow parts flowed pretty well too. The minijacks in m62-67 and at the very end are pretty awkward but you can leave them in if you want considering the overall difficulty. I do suggest layering in a little more density in the slow section in m99-102, though.
Editor: One problem is that in the whole m8-38 I don't hear the 16th right after the hand. Same thing in m111-125. I'm not sure of the other fast sections but it wouldn't hurt to be more careful about 16th rhythms overall.
Rave7 (hi19hi19) - 4/10
Playtest: Gotta say, up to the second big 24th stream I really liked this. It was pretty interesting and would have made a good straightforward hard file for FFR. The dense sections later were really awkward and crazy, though, and I think they are way too jacky and tough to be suitable as a non-joke FFR file.
Editor: I don't hear the second 32nd thing in m56, or the 32nds in m63, or the first half of the 32nds at the end of m64. Overall, many parts in the fastest gluts (from m53 on) seemed to be stepped to make sense and feel good at a much lower rate, without an attempt to make sure they were still appropriate (playable, not too awkward, matching what you hear in the song) on normal rate. The 48th wall in m82 is a good example of this.
Rotary Slicers (Xayphon) - 9/10
Playtest: Very nice chart, fun and diverse. I liked the colored emphasis notes and the use of trills in the slower section. The only real complaint I have is the one really awkward pattern in m90, but it's not all that bad to hit so it's really up to you.
Editor: Seemed accurate to me.
Scrap Syndrome (TC_Halogen) - 8/10
Playtest: Wow, serious stamina file here. It was quite good, with some nice use of color (specifically in m34, m58, m104, and m146) and good PR. The extremely long trills bugged me a bit, but they make sense and at 200 bpm it's not really a problem. I did feel that the file was kind of repetitive though - I know there are only so many patterns you can make around a one-handed minijumpjack, but it still kind of felt like playing the same chart twice. I'm not sure what the fix would be, though; maybe using a different layering scheme would allow for more variation throughout the chart.
Editor: Chart looks technically fine.
Slashmaid [instrumental] (DossarLX ODI) - 7/10
Playtest: This is really dense and fast but at least it's pretty consistent about it. I like how you made the patterns easier on the higher-bpm sections. Personally I think the long trill section in m78-93 should be broken up into trilly stream, because otherwise it's just too annoying to try to combo in FFR.
Editor: The chart seems pretty accurate, but it's hard to tell because of how weird and busy the song is. The sync is pretty good, though, which is pretty impressive given the song.
SOLROS (iironiic) - 9/10
Playtest: Wow, very nice. Really interesting and fun patterns without being too awkward, and great use of 24th trills and coloring. Not really much else to say, I definitely liked this.
Editor: Some of the patterns seem wrong, like the 24ths in m37, m42, m56, m61, and m74. Be more careful about 24th placement and this will be an amazing chart.
Speedcore 300 (Xx{Midnight}xX) - 3/10
Playtest: This was really awkward and jacky. At this speed it's imperative to make sure the patterns flow and there were many places where they really didn't - m45, m53, m57, m77, m79-80, m100, m121 (lol 16th jack), m125, m133, m137, m145, m153, m157 are examples. You also overdid roll walls, and I know this is a speedcore file but at this speed you can't just go dumping 8th jackwalls all over the place. In addition, the use of 16th gallops is really problematic. 16ths are generally used for actual rhythms and it feels really wrong to use them as grace notes to accentuate single noises, especially when you have plenty of 8th note rhythms. If you're going to do gallops like that, use notes that are spaced closer together so the two notes can be hit as a jump, otherwise it's just unpleasant to play.
Editor: There are missed rhythms in m35, m37, m82-m97, m105, and m133. In addition, there is a serious lack of consistency in the file; the same sound will be stepped as a roll wall in one place, some 16ths with a roll somewhere else, and pure 16ths in another place. Choose a reasonable way to step stuff, and use it throughout the chart.
Storm Raid Battle (0) - 5/10
Playtest: I liked the use of hands here, and there were some really cool patterns, like the color notes in m56. I think the minijacks at this speed are a bit too harsh/awkward, and I suggest getting rid of those.
Editor: What's up with the intro? m8 is really tough, and then you proceed to almost completely ignore every other kind of layering for like 20 measures. The background rhythms in m24 are particularly obvious and it's really shocking to see them ignored. Simiarly, m80 seems really empty, as is m153-158. Just in general, if the hard parts are going to be that hard, the slow parts shouldn't feel like you are deliberately ignoring notes to keep down the difficulty of the song.
super mario bros theme (original nintendo is awesome remix) (YOSHl) - 4/10
Playtest: The difficulty seems all wrong on this song. The intro has heavy jacking and 32nd patterns (at 125 bpm) but then the vocal section starting at m14 is much much easier - the song should be more consistent. The only real difficulty in that vocal part is reading the colored notes (I guess those were attempts to be hyper-accurate?). Then the faster section feels way overstepped with jumptrills everywhere and a few weird minijacks (two in m30 and one in m31).
Editor: The layering in the intro is a significant problem. Look at m2 for instance: the first 8th doesn't deserve emphasis, I can't see why that one 16th note is a jump, and the rest is kind of random too. Pick an obvious layering scheme for the whole section and go with it; at the least, it should be less dense/jacky than this. Also notice the sounds on the 8th notes from m10-12 - every one of those 8ths should be at least a jump. And as for the 180ish bpm section, that whole part needs to be layered more in tune with what the music is doing. The layering on the outro and vocal sections is okay but still a little confusing in places.
System Doctor (_.Spitfire._) - 5/10
Playtest: Pretty fun file; I especially liked the use of four-note roll patterns. I think the longer 8th jacks and rollwalls (m44-45, m79-82, m85-86, m91-92, m102-103, m152-154, m157-158) are too hard for FFR, though, and the non-jumptrillable rolls in m145, m146, m150, and m151 are pretty awkward too. Basically most of this is quite good, but some parts need to be toned down.
Editor: Some of the roll patterns seem way harder or denser than the music suggests. In fact, a lot of the rolls sound more like one or two individual noises, and I think the file would flow better if those were stepped as individual buzzy noises rather than as what ends up being a fast jumptrill. As for the longer jumptrills, you can always dumb them down a bit (24ths? 16th trills?) to avoid the huge amount of jacking.
The Bird's Concrete Nosedive (DossarLX ODI) - 9/10
Playtest: As before, this is a solid, fun file with interesting and creative patterns. Despite the speed they're not too awkward or jacky either. This will be a tough file to score well on, but it's definitely good enough for FFR.
Editor: It seems good to me. As with all songs of this type, anyone else would do a lot of the patterns differently, but it works well like this.
The Bird's Poisoned Bathwater (Xayphon) - 9/10
Playtest: Cool and fun chart, with some tough patterns but not really anything awkward or ugly. It's certainly unique and I'd like to see this ingame.
Editor: Generally looks pretty good. As with all songs of this type, anyone else would do a lot of the patterns differently, but it works well like this.
Trisection v2 (Reshiram) - 5/10
Playtest: With this chart it felt like you were trying too hard to make it difficult. The 16th parts had a ton of jacks and although they were generally hittable it didn't really feel warranted by the song. All of the polyrhythm parts (m12-13, m50-54, m58, m68) were problematic, as they tended to be way harder than they needed to be and awkward to hit as well. The 24th patterns (especially starting from the middle of m56) felt totally wrong since the PR of the song was pretty much ignored, and some of the patterns were pretty boring too. Overall this is stepped okay but not really fun or creative.
Editor: Generally this song is overlayered. Don't add in a jump whenever you can just because some part of a song sounds kinda heavy, but instead try to use them when they make sense with the song. The chart is generally accurate and other than the 24ths the PR is okay, but if anything it's stepped too technically.
Trisection v2 (trumaestro) - 7/10
Playtest: Pretty good chart, solid 24th patterns and reasonable 16th patterns with a good amount of density. The PR on the 24ths is really good, but I think the PR in the slower sections (e.g. m1-3) could use some work, as it often felt noticeably wrong. This is a very melodic song so that's definitely an important thing to worry about.
Editor: The layering and rhythms seem pretty good here, only technical issue is the PR as mentioned.
Tsugihagi Construction (Ziergdsx18) - 8/10
Playtest: Really fun chart - the slower sections were especially good. The 32nd transition in m8 is kind of awkward but that's about it.
Editor: Put all the 4th notes in m54-58, and add a few more notes in m63-64. Also, m83-90 would feel better with at least one note on each 16th.
World End's Yama Xanadu (0) - 7/10
Playtest: This got pretty repetitive in parts, but I know a good portion of that was due to the song. Still, stuff like the ending 8th trill could be varied up some more. I liked the colored rolls and the fact that this song wasn't as ridiculously hard as I expected (so it's playable despite the length). For sanity's sake, though, I think it'd be useful to remove the 16th minijacks and 24th minitrlls in the beginning and later on.
Editor: It looked pretty accurate to me as I was playing. The song's not too rhythmically complex so i don't feel areal need to look everything over in the editor.
Zombie Sunset (leonid) - 8/10
Playtest: This was a really fun chart with patterns that represent the song very well. A lot of the jumpstream patterns flowed really well, too. A few of the patterns were kind of awkward though: the right hand jumpjacks in m103, the up/down stuff in m117-118, the left hand jumpjacks in m120, and the jumpjacks in m137. The end feels kind of empty; maybe either step some more single notes before/after the last arrow, or just remove it.
Editor: There are some debatable sections where you could have stepped it very differently, but the chart flows well so I don't have a problem with how you did it.

Playtest: whoa, w, what? is it over already?
Editor: not sure about having this in, as this is just a sped-up version of virtually the same song already in-game.
Also, not too many of the 16th sections seemed like they actually need the 16ths.
Nothing majorly wrong about the file itself because the song is simple; I'll leave this one up to the other judges.
Short Thoughts: lazy indeed...

Playtest: Pretty fun. m. 75 ~ 80 feels kinda strange and overlayered playing, mmm...
Editor: m. 34 - 12th jumps? (133.50 -> 133.33, 135.00 -> 134.67)
Suggestion for m. 35 ~ 48 and m. 115 ~ 128 - jumps on the percussion only - gets confusing with jumps going to two instruments at once.
m. 143 ~ 145 - nice stream pattern 8)
Short Thoughts: @.@
Corporal Jigsaw Quandary (samurai7694) 4/10 [+?]
---------------
Playtest: A repetition of enjoyable and sjdkfjskdgjs. Both streams seem a bit too long at that speed.

m. 76 - four notes each in between beats 302.33 and 303.00, and again at 303.33 and 304.00 - the same way you did m. 78.
m. 115 ~ 122 - The noticeable misrhythm here is the main issue I have with this file - the guitar line is a string of 12ths like you put jumps to; however, the percussion is a 32nd stream (or 16ths at 200BPM).
Try sticking to just 12ths instead of the 24th jumpstream - or go for the polyrhythm if it doesn't get too nasty.
Short Thoughts: No, really, the streams are lol

m. 107 ~ - jumps seem overused in some sections; consider taking out the ones on beats 426.50 ~ 427.50, 434.50 ~ 435.50, etc.
Short Thoughts: arrrrrrrrr dddddddddddddddddd bzzzzzz

Playtest: A couple of awkward parts, but plays well for the most part. Flows better on FFR than on SM heh.
Editor: No big technical mistakes, so here are just some suggestions!
Throughout the file, you have some percussion gallops/rhythms that start on a 16th which feel weird in sections that aren't that dense (e.g. beats 50.25, 58.25, 82.25, 318.25, etc.).
Maybe add notes on the 4ths right before those sections? The sounds seem to be there - just a suggestion.
Your layering is great, but earlier in the song, you could make a few exceptions and take out some hands so that the strong beats are emphasized more.
(e.g. change hands to jumps for beats 45.00, 53.00, 67.00; keep ones on beats 45.00, 68.00, 69.50, 71.50, etc.) The second time the theme repeats (m. 77~) should be fine as is since the song gets more intense (!!)
m. 33 - a little pattern variation here would make it more fun - perhaps a pattern that uses [12][12] instead of [13][13] the second time around (beats 130, 130.50)
m. 41 - ^ same thing here as well
m. 43 (170.67, 171.33) - jumps not needed.
m. 59 (235.50) - missing note here.
m. 70 (279.50) - for the purpose of flow, I think making this jump a single note would be better.
Short Thoughts: Awesome song, awesome file, ayappa =w=

Playtest: Nicely done; that was very fun to play.
Editor: You may want to fade out the mp3 so the ending of the song doesn't come across as strange to people.
m. 40 (159.75) - ghost note?
m. 49 (192.50) - feels like there needs to be a note here - you decide (you might have to change the patterns around there a little bit).
Short Thoughts: i love (this file)
Love & Justice (bmah) 7/10 [+.]
--------------
Playtest: Nice little hard chart to a rather soft song, haha.
Editor: Looks okay except for some difficulty inconsistency. If you'd like, you could try taking out jumps on beats that aren't as strong during the last jumpstream (beats 336.50, 346.00, 347.50, etc.)/layer the easy sections a little bit more.
m. 45 ~ 47 - consider varying the patterns here a little bit (mirror, etc.), like you did in m. 69 ~ 71.
m. 87 - move jump on beat 344.50 to 345.00, change jump to single note on beat 345.50.
Short Thoughts: Jumpstream!!!
Music (For Kirby) (bmah) 6/10 [+.]

Playtest: Good chart; felt overly jumpy in some sections though (e.g. m. 41 ~ 46)
Editor: Technicality is fine - just consider making the quieter sections a bit easier:
m. 60 & 64 - take out hands as it creates random minijacks?
m. 98 - ragebait!!
Short Thoughts: Right back at ya (>'-')>

Playtest: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's Sharpnel!!
Editor: What a strange cut, haha
m. 3 ~ 8 (14.00, 22.00, 30.00) - not sure about the jumps here because you don't step them in the following section.
m. 29 ~ 36 - fun fun fun!
m. 37 ~ 50 - felt generic - you could spice this section up with a few 16ths since they're there like in m. 52 on.
m. 65 ~ 67 - oh man that is one awkward beast
Short Thoughts: KOMIKKU PA-TI-!!
Scrap Syndrome (TC_Halogen) 8/10 [+]

Playtest: Pretty enjoyable!
Editor: Lots of patterns I'm not used to, without them being too awkward - hopefully this will be a nice challenge to other players as well.

SOLROS (iironiic) 7/10 [+.]
--------------
Playtest: Seemed fun overall.
Editor: Towards the end (m. 69 on), there seemed to be a lot of notes that go to very quiet sounds; to be honest, this would be better as a 9 or a 10 rather than an FMO, heh.
m. 44 ~ 49 - one little suggestion would be to have the jumps only for the violin, as this keeps too many colored notes from having jumps.
m. 83 - how about ending the section with a roll for the guitar, instead of a jump?
Short Thoughts: Flesvelka jr.
Storm Raid Battle (0) 5/10 [+?]
--------------
Playtest: Stamina!!!
Editor: Hands and jumps are quite overused overall. Try cutting down on hands on yellow notes, especially in dense sections.
m. 43 (171.00 ~ 172.00), m. 45 (178.50 ~ 179.25), m. 46 (180.00 ~ 180.75), etc. - perhaps cut down on the jumpgluts as the 16th percussion beats are in a ton of sections throughout the song.
To compensate for the difficulty loss, you could try stepping the little 32nd bursts on m. 49 (195.50), m. 51 (203.00), m. 59 (235.00), etc.
Short Thoughts: Not bad at all, just need to slightly tone down the layering.

- quite a long wait to get things started. [-1]
- 60.517 to 84.518: following the lyrics for this section could avoid repetition [-0.5]
- 87.695 to 109.940/122.714 to 144.965: these run patterns are really tough [-0.5]
- 154.589 to 172.609: check the rhythm on the bass drum, it changes quite a bit outside of 24ths [-1]
Excite Bike (0)
Rating: [+] (8/10)
- no real commentary; aside from a missed 32nd at 4.178, there's really nothing wrong with this. The length seems to be the only problem to me, just for this batch in particular.
Storm Raid Battle (0)
Rating: [+] (8/10)
- 39.496: thank you for accenting this - it does look a bit awkward as 16ths (as it should be), but making them 64ths works just as well also appreciate the PR [+1]
- 54.022/56.390/56.864/(etc.): while I do understand the usage of the jumps as ascending/descending snare pitches, considering that you have normal taps for snares in other spots, this seems like forced difficulty [-1]
- a majority of this file has a slightly ambiguous structure with the constantly changing snare usage - it seems right in most spots but there are a few areas that are questionable, like 62.548 (a bit weird in terms of your layering) and 115.600 (a bit more correct), where both scenarios have you following only the snare and nothing else [-1]
- 101.074 to 109.758: nice job keeping this part of the chart fairly empty since it's practically nothing in comparison to the following section [+1]
- 151.600 to 171.811: this could have been so much interesting - I expected tons of grace notes and colorful patterns, and all I got was 8th notes; what a let down [-1]
404th of July [6/10]

PARTY TIME! (MrPopadopalis25)
- the long 8th jump section with jumps to the vocals was a bit lame

{Lazy Summer Days} [Remix] (Dossar vs. qqwref) 5/10 [+?]
---------------
Playtest: whoa, w, what? is it over already?
Editor: not sure about having this in, as this is just a sped-up version of virtually the same song already in-game.
Also, not too many of the 16th sections seemed like they actually need the 16ths.
Nothing majorly wrong about the file itself because the song is simple; I'll leave this one up to the other judges.
Short Thoughts: lazy indeed...
Betrayal (samurai7694) 8/10 [+]
---------------
Playtest: Pretty fun. m. 75 ~ 80 feels kinda strange and overlayered playing, mmm...
Editor: m. 34 - 12th jumps? (133.50 -> 133.33, 135.00 -> 134.67)
Editor: Aside from the framerness that the streams will cause...
Excite Bike (0) 3/10 [?]
---------------
Playtest: lol do we really need a v2 of this
Editor: The BPM changes seem to mess up the sync consistency - m. 3 seems late compared to the beginning of the file, (m. 4 on as well, but not as much)
m. 3 (8.38) - not sure about this jump.
m. 5 - correctness aside, this kinda seems like meh for FFR
Short Thoughts: I think I'll stick to the 32-note version
Extratone Pirates (Dossar vs. qqwref) 6/10 [+.]
---------------
Playtest: Starts off awesome. The long 32nds seem overdone. m. 99 on looks cool.
Editor: m. 43 - don't really think the 16ths are necessary - they aren't too audible.
m. 44 (172.00) - remove note
m. 107 ~ - jumps seem overused in some sections; consider taking out the ones on beats 426.50 ~ 427.50, 434.50 ~ 435.50, etc.
Short Thoughts: arrrrrrrrr dddddddddddddddddd bzzzzzz
Fried Eggs In My Ear (samurai7694) 9/10 [+]
---------------
Playtest: Amazingly fun.
Editor: m. 9 (23.00~) - 24ths not needed.
Short Thoughts: Didn't find anything notable - very nice!
Halcyon (bmah) 8/10 [+]
--------------
Playtest: A couple of awkward parts, but plays well for the most part.
Short Thoughts: Awesome song, awesome file, ayappa =w=
i love (orange things) (ninjaKIWI) 8/10 [+]
--------------
Playtest: Nicely done; that was very fun to play.
--------------
Playtest: Good chart; felt overly jumpy in some sections though (e.g. m. 41 ~ 46)
Editor: Technicality is fine - just consider making the quieter sections a bit easier:
m. 60 & 64 - take out hands as it creates random minijacks?
m. 98 - ragebait!!
Short Thoughts: Right back at ya (>'-')>
PARTY TIME! (MrPopadopalis25) 7/10 [+.]
--------------
Playtest: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's Sharpnel!!
--------------
Playtest: Pretty enjoyable!
Editor: Lots of patterns I'm not used to, without them being too awkward - hopefully this will be a nice challenge to other players as well.
Short Thoughts: uuuahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-
SOLROS (iironiic) 7/10 [+.]

Rating: [+.] (6/10)
- 151.600 to 171.811: this could have been so much interesting - I expected tons of grace notes and colorful patterns, and all I got was 8th notes; what a let down [-1]
[+] 9/10

at 5.73 change up those jump patterns so it isnt all anchored on the down column [7/10]
