Oh come now, I dont go attacking you for no apparent reason. And fine, to correct myself... various things of all shapes and sizes in life make me happy. And again, it all depends on how you look at things. I can look small when I look in a mirror... a fun house mirror. -
okay here's the deal.
I don't know what you're calling happiness, but i think that happiness and contentment are two diferent things.
Happy is something you feel when you're completely content, everything in your life is going right, and you have no cares in the world. That hardly ever happens, for long periods anyways.
Being content is much easier to do, and therefore can happen quite often. Being content is just getting away for awhile, not worrying about stuff, and just not caring. It's a good part of happiness, but its not truly happiness, and it can go away quickly.
Also, on a side note. The person who told you to get a gf? Don't listen to him. Being in a relationship CAN be a very happy time, but its never an easy road. I'd say with your outlook right now, getting into a relationship would probably be a bad idea, considering the fact that it could very easily get messy, and quickly too. Relationships AREN'T bad things, just maybe for you, right now, they are.
As for what makes me happy, i don't really know, i've been happy a lot in my life, many times as a kid, because kids are almost always happy. They never have a care in the world, and just do w/e is fun. But other than that, just a few times, Being somewhere beautiful with my family/friends, and just feeling like i was on top of the world.
Other than that, i like to stay content as long as possible, as often as possible. The main thing that makes most people, i think, content is, doing what you want, when you want. I respect the law (at least most of it) and can still do what i want, when i want, most of the time. Here's a few examples.
Being with my friends, remenescing (spelling?) makes me content.
Getting work done without being bothered makes me content.
Talking with my internet friends, whether it's thru Chats, IM's, or on the phone, makes me content.
Making new friends, whether they're internet, or immediate, makes me content.
Beautiful days outside make me content.
Orgasms make me content. (maybe TMI, maybe not, but we all can relate, at least MOST of us.)
There. Those are some things that make me content, i hope you can find some things that make you content Laharl, cuz life sucks without good things.Comment

my ex-girlfriend makes me happy. she always did, and always will. just thinking about her...mmmmmm. so yeah, being in love makes me happy
those times late at night (like right now) when everything is quiet and it's just me here on the computer, and Rusty (1 of our dogs) pokes his head in to ask if he can come in, and i am able to softly tell him to get on the bed and he get up and lays down nice and calm, that makes me happy. (this is probably because during the day he wont shut up, and he's always barking really loudly all the time and i want to smack him sometimes)
sometimes i'm just happy. idunno, no explaining it, but sometimes it seems like everything is good. like right now, i'm very happy. everything i do seems better right now. tomorrow night, i may be sad. idunno, there's no telling. So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OComment

What makes me happy?
Lots of DDR, FFR, summer vacation, driving, hanging out with friends, posting in the forums on FFR, more DDR, a lot of Morrowind, some PSO, and porn.

Rajgin's quote makes me unhappy, ...as i disagree with it strongly.
No offense... but"Life is just a game. Make your moves, act upon them, and deal with the consequences that follow."
Life is not a game. Why do you want everything to be a game?
I know your quote sounds very Zen-like and wise or whatever, but it's just...
One word description: Empty.
It's not true, it doesn't even work, and it doesn't sound cool... and after you read it you kind of frown and wish you had been hit by a cement truck right before you read the quote.-JamieComment

Being alive.
Going along with Observer's definitions of happiness and contentment, I'm happy that I can wake up every day and strive for contentment. I live to be happy, and that also makes me happy.
My old girlfriend made me happy and memories of our relationship still do today, even though we were separated three years ago. Although the thought that I can't ever have her again isn't so sweet.
Regarding Rajgin's quote about life being a game, I agree completely. There's nothing wrong or empty about living your life as a series of moments. Just because something's a game doesn't mean you can't take it seriously.
What doesn't make me happy is the way Jam stated her opinion as fact in the last sentence of her last post.
God, life, and the pursuit of happiness, rules.

My sisters, my friends, and the fact that I can do whatever I want with my life, and it is all going to come out wonderfully. I spent a moajor part of my life being unhappy, and unfortunatly I lost a lot of people close to me. Yes, there are still things that make me sad.....even when people don't intend to hurt me, but I decided recently that I will not let things bother me, and if I do, I will let them bother me all they want behind closed doors.
My happiness comes almost entirely from making others around me happy. If I am upset, friends worry about me, just as I would them. I don't want that, I want everyone I know to be happy...not just because of me, but I do want to help.
I want to be the best sister, daughter, friend, and someday best wife and mother possible. And if everyone's life is okay around me, I am groovy.\"All the world is the birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much.\"

The challenge of running makes me happy (attaining personal goals).
Sitting on top of mountains makes me happy.
Swimming with my friends and making each other laugh makes me happy.
Playing tennis with my family makes me happy.
Achieving a higher education makes me happy.
Listening and playing music makes me happy.
Working on my computer makes me happy (mods etc.).
Eating fish, meat, fruit, and many types of desserts make me happy.
Looking at the pretty girls make me happy (in a different way).
Eternally looking forward to summer over the ~180 days of school make me happy.
I can't think of any more.Comment

Making people laugh makes me truely happy. There is nothing better than hearing a group of people crack up at your jokes. I don't know anything about love or girls or else I wouldn't be skimming this forum everynight at 2 in the fucking morning.

I got a better way of phrasing it. Its sorta combining Stoicism and Confucianism, that each person should do what is expected of them, and take both the bad with the good.Originally posted by Jam930Rajgin's quote makes me unhappy, ...as i disagree with it strongly.

And The Q, I totally agree. Laughing at jokes, spending time with friends, and making people laugh at my jokes are some of the most pleasureable things for me.
If things are feeling down, I just know that there will be better times and I might as well wait until the time passes away and the problems are over (at least temporarily). You have to just enjoy the things that make the world beautiful, which for me include the sound of rain, the beauty of snow, etc.Every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lives here on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
