I was too far from where the storm’d take hold
To smell the rain before the pour and before the cold
A wind carried on the lips of a widowed wife
Smelled of rain and loss of life
With a sense of foreboding, I asked the question
Tears formed before she made mention
Immediately a storm so ferocious
Took hold and I stood there motionless
How could a star that burns so bright be self-extinguished?
How could one’s own value of life be so diminished?
Nights are darker and emotions are worn
Your life forever I will mourn
To smell the rain before the pour and before the cold
A wind carried on the lips of a widowed wife
Smelled of rain and loss of life
With a sense of foreboding, I asked the question
Tears formed before she made mention
Immediately a storm so ferocious
Took hold and I stood there motionless
How could a star that burns so bright be self-extinguished?
How could one’s own value of life be so diminished?
Nights are darker and emotions are worn
Your life forever I will mourn
