    Bully

This movie is really powerful and I'd recommend it for anyone, especially children and their parents, although I don't really see the reason it was unratred.

And no, it's not based off of the video game of the same name.

    Re: Bully

there was a huge debate about whether or not this movie was gonna be in theatres because of the content of it because they intended for it to be rated pg-13 since thats the audience its focused on
but since the content had lots of vulgar language and i believe fighting or what-ever you depict as bullying it was supposed to be unrated (or so i thought apparently according to OP it's R)

        Re: Bully

Official rating is "unrated" meaning that each movie theater that plays it chooses what to give it for a rating (at least to my knowledge this is the case). Definitely a movie I'd like to see.

I myself haven't seen any or partaken in any bullying of any kind where i grew up so i can't really say it's an issue here at least, but obviously in other parts of the country it is

It's a shame the petition to make it PG-13 failed, because I think a TON of teens need to see this movie. :/

              Re: Bully

I haven't seen the movie yet, but it looks like it would be quite difficult to sit through, especially since I was bullied a lot when I was younger. Plus, the fact that I used to look a lot like the bullied kid in the movie doesn't help...

This. Oh my god, this. I even signed that petition.

I can't think of a single school that wouldn't benefit from screening this.

Since it's been classified as unrated though, its' at the theatres' discretion to show it to certain age groups. AMC Theatres has actually allowed it to be played and anyone can see it (13 and under need a permission slip if they want to see it alone, but they can see it with an adult). So it's not a total loss.

It can probably still be shown after giving out permission slips.

                      Re: Bully

thing is that many theaters have policies against showing unrated films, which is why most film distributors submit their movies to the MPAA before releasing them to the American theaters. Cause I mean it's not like the theaters are gonna screen all the unrated movies themselves and decide on a rating for them.

Generally an R-rating would be better for the financial success of a movie than no rating at all (usually the ratings are surrendered if the film gets slapped with an NC-17 and the makers are unwilling to make the necessary changes to get the R) but Bully's primarily directed at those below seventeen

I thought this thread was about this movie at first. I was like "PG-13!? TF!?" then I saw the YouTube.

Need to see this movie. The Larry Clark film focused way too much on sex scenes, and the movie felt somewhat like a satire.
