    R.I.P. Chester Bennington

Not sure if it's appropriate to make a thread, but I want to see a discussion here.

I listen to LP with my father, and this music really influenced the way I play as a musician personally. Really upset this happened.

R.I.P. to one of the most genuine lead vocalists of today.

Was about to make a thread tbh.

I was never very big into them, but like, damn.

Hopefully it humbles some of their fanbase about what they were doing to him. There was already a laundry list of problems for him, but then to also have his fanbase essentially reject everything he did probably stuck the nail in. Hope he's at least in a little less pain now. RIP man.

      Well said.
A lot of people aren't really into them; but LP is truly one of the better bands in today's era.

Original, a wide variety of styles, and even constantly trying to adept to today's era right.

One of my favorite bands despite only liking the first 3 albums.

        Rip in piece.

they were definitely pioneers back in the day for rap rock and nu-metal amd I'd honestly say they did really great things for both genres. but... their most recent album was pretty generic.

but oh well, what matters now is his passing. this is really saddening, I have some fond memories of their older stuff and reanimation is a reason why I listen to electronic music now.

condolences to the band and his family. rest in peace.

Just read about this, so sad... I saw them live when they were doing their A Thousand Suns tour with Pendulum. I was in the front row too, one of the best concerts I ever went to. That album meant a lot to me too as it was something that helped me out of a rough time in my life.

              RIP Chester

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit what the hell what the hell what the hell
LP was my first-ever music obsession, and while I "outgrew" them and have found a lot of their stuff cringeworthy for the last decade or so (this plays into my whole embarrassment with my FFR username, for instance), I don't think I tend to give them enough credit for simply giving voice to a lot of the confusion and anger that I was wallowing in during middle school

They helped me get through so much of the bullshit from back then. And regardless of how pretentious I'm sometimes tempted to be with the "objective" quality of their music or whatever, regardless of how I feel when I listen to them now, there was a very significant time for me when I was mired in depression and mental illness and what they sung about helped me feel better and more understood, less alone. It feels really really tragic to have the lead vocalist of a band that did that for me eventually decide to leave, when LP's music played some sort of role in helping me stay here. But I also don't think it's my right to knock his decision, or to insinuate that he didn't try or otherwise should've been "stronger" for the sake of anyone else. I don't know. I don't know.

Mike Shinoda's side project Fort Minor has a song that I'm being reminded of right now. It's not super pertinent but it is kinda

Thank you for taking the time to appreciate how genuine LP's songs are in terms of their music. As cliche as some may think LP are, I highly doubt they are trying to fake or mimic any forms of emotions like confusion, heartbreak, and frustration. That's why I like to continue listening to LP.

Meteora is probably the only physical CD I've bought with my own money when I was a kid.

They're music was meme'd to hell and back, but they hold a special place in my heart for introducing very very different music back in middle school.

Breaking the Habit is definitely my favorite from them.

I've spoken too much about this across too many discords but here's a link to help people remember just what the world lost.

Profile of Linkin Park's support for charities including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Habitat For Humanity, and MusiCares. We have 81 articles about Linkin Park's philanthropy.

The man reached out further than his music ever could. What we gave them, they gave back to the world when it needed it. Helped dozens of charities, foundations and causes. millions of dollars to help millions of people.

                            It's a fucking shame.
                            hey
