    So I tried singing...

My friend asked me to try singing so I did this and wrote the cheesiest lyrics I could think of. Slapped on some autotune and it was a typical UKHC track. Try not to laugh I guess.

Eh, the vocals aren't too bad. At the very least, there's no risk of anyone here laughing, heh. They're are kinda muffled though, it sounds like you used some sort of post processing on 'em that destroyed the higher frequencies :I

      HAHAHAHA!

This is pretty good -- wish I could sing half-way decently at least but I can't. Sounds like a nice proper UK Hardcore track as you mentioned. Nice job!

Also, as SMCK said, work a bit on the vocal mixing it sounds a little off to me also but it's almost there. Try layering, perhaps?
Ah I think the fault is the mic you used, it sounds a bit rough -- try a deEsser. (gonna guess this was a headset mic)

I very much disagree with that rofl

EDIT: Maybe in popular music though. I guess in that case it could be true, but "famous"? nah.

No, KgZ is absolutely right. Don't imagine autotune as the way T-Pain uses it rather as a pitch correction VST. It's most effectively used subtly.

Let me hear some Burzum autotune

Especially when the guy records with a shitty USB microphone to get epic garage sounds

First of all Burzum isn't famous. Re-read KgZ's statement he purely said famous artists that claim they don't use it.

Second of all if you are trying to make a claim that "metal" people don't use autotune you are so, SO very wrong. Yes there are a few ones (read: not famous), but if you don't think that Dream Theater, Sonata Artica etc. use autotune on their mixes and perhaps even performances then you are just lying to yourself. xd

PS: If you wish to discuss the usage of autotune in music, popular or not, please contact me or KgZ via PM and try not to clutter up megamon's song thread.

Nope, it was just an isolated example, and burzum is pretty famous imo, sadly not for the music but more because of the artist's background. I think it is pretty well known worldwide by millions of people. There's this big difference between famous and mainstream.

Secondly, metal? nope. Lots of metal artists do have their sounds engineered for obvious reasons, but as far as famous go, burzum is the first one that came to mind.

If I was to name a subgenre that doesn't at all, I'd say maybe crust punk, since, well, it's in the essence of the genre to have it sound like trash. But CT doesn't sell for shit either.

Mainly, I wanted to bring an example not to find loopholes in that statement, but to avoid generalization because I hate that. =P The vast majority of artists that sell well are doing well because they are produced by major labels who will anyway clean up the product in one way or another, I'm not stupid. However it'd be a wrong idea imo to say that the opposite doesn't exist.

EDIT: Yeah you're absolutely right about that. Sorry Megamon! =)

I'll go home and give actual reviews on your music to compensate for the distraction ^^
