Hey there guys, recently my microphone jacks stopped working and I was wondering if anyone has a possible fix? I'm running windows 7. I've checked the microphone jacks in the recording tab of and it says they're working properly. (I beg to differ) Also I've checked the drivers and there up to date. I really have no idea what could be wrong with these jacks. :| So, any help or speculations would be appreciated.

Re: Microphone jacks not working
These are the 3.5mm jacks right? Try your mic on a different computer just to make sure it isn't playing up.Originally posted by apersonyoloComment

Re: Microphone jacks not working
If you are referring to the front panel mic jack, then perhaps the plug has fallen off the motherboard header.
If it is the rear panel jack, assuming your audio drivers are installed, then it might be broken.Comment

Re: Microphone jacks not working
It could just be (and likely is) some kind of configuration problem (either system-wide or in your individual program you are trying to use). I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.
You'll have to go playing around with a bunch of stuff though. There's not really one "fix" to this as it differs widely.
Some things you can try:
Adjusting various volume controls
Changing which jack is the one your program takes input from -- sometimes it matters.
Disabling onboard audio if you have a sound card (if you don't have one, leave it be)
Updating audio drivers
Just playing around with whatever audio options are available to you (differs widely)
If the jack itself is going bad (doubtful) you could try putting it in almost, but not quite, all the way -- there may be some point at which it kind of works but past that it doesn't.Originally posted by Crashfan3Man, what would we do without bored rednecks?Comment
