    Graphics Cards

I'm looking for a card that is better than an 8600 gts to some significant degree but still under 75 dollars. It also needs to be relatively small to fight in a medium size tower.

Buy XFX GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card GT-430X-ZAF2 with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

Does anyone know how this card compares to a 8600 gts?

It has a slightly faster core clock then the 8600 GTS but the GTS is better on the Memory clock. With that said the GT430 will be a decent choice.

Pretty much irrelevant. The architecture is completely different. I'm sure the 430 would be a good upgrade, nevertheless.

The 430 is basically meant for HTPC's (Home Theater PCs). What are you using this for, gaming? In any case, I would definitely recommend holding out for $140+ at least. A 460 or something.

"Oh, just my cock." Replied Foil.
"That just will not do." was keywii's response as she lunged for the scissors, pulled the blades apart, and clamped them down on the base of foil's shaft. Blood start gushing out of the wound where his penis used to be.
      "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yelled Foil in horror.
"Don't worry. I'm a wizard" uttered Keywii. And with that, Foil's penis grew back.

Buy ECS GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card NGT440-512QI-F1 with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

best one for under 75 dollar, look no further.

unless you are trying to render HD videos or work/play on screens larger than 1920x1080, even then it will probably be slightly more expensive.

Reason: GDDR5 architecture, 512mb is not too relevant at lower res. 128bit, fermi, hdmi, small, I can't believe this is going for 70 bux actually.
Reminder for self to make new sig.

I'm assuming Izzy has a typical large-brand micro atx tower, and most 460s wont fit in there. I'm looking at Newegg and I only see two that will probably fit... only one is in stock and it's $170.

Well that's a good model in the Nvidia line-up, but ECS Elitegroup is not a good manufacturer. The 9500GT I bought from them a couple years back showed up bent. Yeah.

Anyway, I do plenty of gaming on my GTS 250 with minimal lag on medium to high settings on most games.

This is the last GTS 250 Newegg has in stock and it's $80 ($50 after the rebate)... I've never had a Galaxy card before so I'm not sure what their quality standards are, but for the price it might be worth the gamble. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162069

If that doesn't work for you you can get this for $120, or $90 after rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500187

Either of those cards would be a huge upgrade from an 8600, but if you want serious gaming performance, you should probably save up a bit more money or consider buying used.

Craigslist has some pretty decent buys... http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/sys/2743534404.html
