Regarding HTTPS, I need some help

So for the last couple weeks due to poor circumstances my dads internet was "cut" off. He's on a Canadian provider called "Bell", I'm sure many of you know this company. Now he told me that whenever he tried to load a page he'd be redirected to his bill, but for some reason Gmail and Facebook still worked. Funny enough they both use httpS rather than http. I consoled with a buddy of mine studying networking and he said it makes sense that they couldn't redirect non-secure https connections due to the "Secure" measures in place. So lo and behold I made the connection and sent my dad on a mission. We deduced that even not paying his bill and being "cut off" he can still connect to ANY WEBSITE using https.

Now with this discovery I looked to expand on enabling his access through this, and first stumbled upon "httpseverywhere" which was a plugin that was supposed to make every page use an https-like protocol... or something. Anyway I had him install the plugin and it unfortunately didnt work. Now I was wondering if anyone here knew any other similar methods to spoof http pages as https, or something else similar to the concept of "httpseverywhere" so that I can help get my dad online and give a hearty "FUCK YOU" to his roomate and to bell.

    Thanks guise!

Also note, anything I have my dad sent to in order to download such software would already need to be on an httpS enabled site already or he simply cant even view it lol.

impossible and also illegal, just saying

don't delete your browser history, as this might delete issued certificates. you'd lose the ability to access the https sites you mentioned

what Bell does to its customers is also pretty much illegal rofl. Fuck Bell/Rogers.

But yeah court fines are probably harder to pay than a bill.

Which part in particular is impossible?

Edit: and obviously my first thought was "get on a new isp" which is goal #1, but short term he'd like access to the internet he was indeed paying for, and just happened to have his money stolen by a shady roomate in the process, that too was illegal.

where they're doing is a huge dick move, but it's not illegal

if you look here, you can plainly see that Bell is listed as an ISP that does this.

Yeah this I know, as a test I tried to do httpS://www.comedycentral.w.eitwas

I got an untrusted certificate error and added an exception, most of the content naturally did not load and the same occured for my dad, but that was ACTIVE content, all raw text still appeared and that's most of what he'll be doing anyway is reading stuff, so I believe it is indeed possible for the uses I'm looking for.

also it's prolly not going to go to court, it's their own fault for not physically disconnecting and leaving such a vulnerable backdoor open, and on top of this I owe Rogers "$3000" cause I had to do an emergency move and lost the hardware. They mailed me lots for a bit then stopped and nothing happened. It'd cost them more to do anything to us than we could give them if we wanted, it's a poor endeavour by them and as he'll be off that isp soon anyway #yolo seeing what we can do.

Yo, Poison- went with Start Communications and pretty much confirmed my assumption that they're as good as reviews say. You should try them (they're based out of Ontario (?), too. Bonus~)

Start.ca provides Ontario with internet, television, and phone. You call us the "Friendly Internet Provider" for a reason. Find out why.

(Poison if your opinion changed plx tell me lol)

should have figured this would be the case, I'm looking at the documentation for https everywhere

I was on start comms for a while and they were great, they gave me a non wireless modem though and I had to buy a t-link. In the end due to me being poor and having trouble with their payment methods I moved to execulink. I fucking love both execulink AND Start comm, and to note they both use bell lines xP. Execulink also recently opened up cable service so I can upgrade and stream soon.

I currently use execulink in my home and have suggested them to my dad as well.

                  edit:

I've got security out the ass and I'm not a novice with spyware, adware, viruses and the like, so any risks there will be fine for me. Thanks though

Also on this note, pages that are already https on my dads "Limited" connection already load all active and non-active content without a lick of trouble. That example was purely when I tried to force https upon non https pages

good to know. I've never heard of Execulink. But yeah in Canada (or at least Ontario) it's practically impossible to get an internet company that isn't under Rogers'/Bell's control. It's precisely why I hate them so much.
