    Bumping Old Threads

Why is it bad to bump an old thread? Please be as thorough as possible, and thanks in advance.

    Re: Bumping Old Threads

Bumping an old thread isn't always bad.

Most of the time, it means the thread was dead and had no activity, and therefore no reason to be brought up again. In most cases, a thread will last until all relevant information is brought up. However, if a person adds information to an otherwise unsolved issue in an old thread, it's not a bad idea to post in said thread, to "bump" it and let other people know about the discovered info. There's rarely reason to bump a thread, but it if the information is very important or happens to be something that a large number of people were unable to solve, it might be worthwhile.
