    What are "playing styles"?

Hmm... Well, I was reading a thread, and noticed people mentioning Spread, Index, and Pad? I know spread is two fingers from each hand assigned to a key, but what's index? I'm supposing it's one handed but a straight line rather than bunched as when you use arrow keys.

Also I was curious about certain songs fitting certain styles? Any help with any of this people? I know there are a lot of you out there who have an answer for me :3

Index is actually using just the index fingers of both hands, on the regular arrow keys most of the time.

        Pretty much this.

There's the occasional player that does something different, but most of the toppies play spread.

Start out with ASKL or QWOP or something. Personally I play M,./.

EDIT: Spread is basically two fingers on both hands, usually the index and middle finger. ASKL is A - left, S - down, K - up, L - right.

I'm one of those occasional players. I don't play all that well granted, but my hands are unable to play seperately, so I'm stuck with 1h 3 fingers on arrows. I tried the ASKL and my timing got all screwed up. >< my left hand doesn't like to respond. But anyway... so I figure what I just explained would be Pad?

Practice. You will start to get used to it.

What you just described would be one hand. Pad is when you play on an actual pad (DDR). Switch to spread and before long you will notice massive skill boosts.

It's the same on a piano xD I just idk, can't focus on doing both hands, idk why. I do awesome when I just use one side of the keyboard or something, but try adding a second hand and I fail... but idk, I guess I'll try it a bit more often...

ANYWAY, I don't know why I didn't think of looking here earlier, but this really helped with my question too:

                  http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Flash_F...on/Play_Styles

Also, for reference's sake. I did an easy song with spread and my 1h-d-ness, (a note: my timing's off partly due to my lagg of my computer (512mb of ram, 1.69ghz processor, kind of sucks, I'm getting a new one) so don't flame me for that D: )

Spread ER[] (it feels comfortable, but the pressing of the keys itself in my brain is awkward, too used to arrows lol):

                  Arrows:

(I was going to take these down in like a day... but I figure I'll keep them up until I run out of room for replays, then go back and delete if I need to)

                    This. (We are one handers.)

Keep at it if you're just having fun. If you ever feel like going extreme switch to spread. :]

3 fingers, 2 on left, one on right, arrow keys. (:
Should start on spread though. I need to. <.<

I used to be a two handed player but I do strictly spread now. I've played spread for about 1 year and I got used to dfjk on a 1.9x speedmod in no time.
