O well time to introduce myself.

FAQ

1. How do you play stepmania?
A. I do use the keyboard but most time I use my Xbox360 controller with this setup. (I'm a thumbs only person)


2. How long did it take for you to become good in playing on controller?
A. It took me to play every day at least 2 hour's for 5 months.

I used to play with a PSX joypad, if it counts, we can try some songs later. ^_^

^^ I wont break the rules but I did break my controller on a OD KB feet 12 song in stepmania (komm,susser Tod ~Amaki shi yo, Kitare - Otaku's Dream 5th Anime Mix -KB Sector-)

Never played OD5. After I got into KB stuff, I forgot completely about Otaku's Dream.

...wait, you broke your controller with a 12? O_o
I played a 14 with a 6+ years old joypad and never broke it. I still have it btw

I broke the analog stick it couldn't take the movement, look at the video that is posted on my signature

it really is way harder on Xbox 360 controller than on a PlayStation controller
because with the Xbox 360 you use the analog stick and the buttons.
With PlayStation you use the d-pad and the buttons.
When you need to press left and down you cant use the analog stick for that so for every song you use the analog stick for about 25% and the buttons for 75%, I also played on a PlayStation controller and its way easier but I also think its less fun ^^ because its less of a challenge

yes, a X360 controller is harder to handle than a PSX one, but I disagree when you say it's less fun. As PSX is easier to play, you can play harder files, even those are usually played with a keyboard.


about your simfiles, you can post them here at FFRs Simfile Database, and post the link at the "Play/Judge/Review my simfile" thread, forum Stepmania Et. Al, subforum Simulator Files, if I recall correctly. If you want some stepping improvement, sign yourself up at the "adopt a stepman" thread, for fun factor, x-mod, color notes and other courses.

Awesome, another controller player like me Although, I use the console set-up, up-down-left-right for the D-pad, and up-down-left-right for the action buttons, instead of only left-down for the D-pad.
