This might be a bit much but:
Set goals for yourself like, FC 40 songs or something like that
Use a speedmod once your comfortable with the game itself (i prefer: 1.75+)
Play spread like use: QWOP or ERIO you can change these in the settings
Play all songs through and don't restart because i have done that and it's not good...
Have fun

Re: i just started ffr
Well, first, you pick out a key configuration you're comfortable with.
There's the arrow key config, which is there by default, but then you can change it to anything you like. Maybe, F (Left),G (Down), H (Up), J (Right), or you can spread it out abit. There was a topic for key lay outs, but I can't find it.
Next, is the scroll speed. If you play Difficulty-10+ songs, you will really have a hard time reading them out to hit them properly (By the way, don't start out on 10). Try 1.5x, or higher. Don't go for 3.0x though, it's just ridiculously fast.
Now, we go onto the songs. Maybe you could try out Difficulty-1 to 2, songs, but if you're fair at rhythm games, try Difficulty-3 to 5 songs. But if you started out like me, you would try the Difficulty-11 to 13 songs. This was just used by me to train my endurance and speed, so don't do it.
Well, let's the pre-FFR guide I made up. The rest will be a cakewalk!
Have fun! And welcome!Comment

Play files just outside of your comfort zone to improve. Something that you stress a bit on, something you can or almost can read and hit the patterns of.Patashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:
