Ohai there, MDN from Kongregate here.

Hello everyone! I signed up yesterday and played a bunch of games.

I hail from Kongregate, land of greg and games. And cheese. And DM1.

So, anything big I need to know about the game that is already not obvious?

Nice to see someone from Kong coming over here for once. Welcome aboard!

If you decide to continue posting in the forums, you should probably read the rules just in case. They're stickied at the top of each forum, but basically, be nice, don't troll, don't spam, etc. Just the usual.

Yes. The full game is 100x more awesome than the FFR widget where you come from.

I'm under the impression that our song selection (including subscriber-only stuff) is OVER 1000, and there are various features that make gameplay more adaptable to different styles including different scroll directions and speeds, as well as a key mapper in case you get sick of playing with the arrow keys.

We also boast a Myspace-like social network (click your avatar in the top right of the screen to go to your profile and chat with other people if the multiplayer chat room in the main game doesn't do enough for you), and there's even a semi-official ranking system in place for the best of the best that works like the badge system, called Tier Points.

Anyway, great to see we're getting traffic in the other direction now (generally FFR members go to Kong after staying here a while). Enjoy your stay.

Yeah, keymapping and speedmods. If you hit the option key you get access to both.
First thing's optional, but if you want an easier way to play the same game map the keys so that you can use two fingers from both hands on each key comfortably; something like q = left, w = down, o = up, p = right. This is known as 'spread' play, as opposed to one-handed on the arrow keys. It's up to you how you want to play, though; you can even learn both ways at once.
Speedmods: The faster the speedmod is, the faster the arrows go, but the song stays the same speed. This means patterns will be more spread out on the screen, and the visual area in which you'll hit a perfect is wider; both of these make reading visually easier, so use the highest speedmod you can comfortably read at.

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. The lifebar is really lenient (a single perfect gives back as much life as a boo or miss takes away), so you can pass any song by mashing the arrow keys at a steady pace, but this isn't a good tactic to rely apon. In general, you should aim to minimize your good, average and boo counts while still comboing as much as you can. Mash only if it's to full combo a short really hard part you couldn't otherwise; if you have to mash the whole song to get through, find something easier.
