About tierpoints

Hope this is the right topic to this.. I was too lazy to find thread like this but. Guess i'm still bit noob. But i really been wondering what's the meaning of the tierpoints? I know that you can see who can master some difficult song and something like that. But why are they exists?

Tierpoints were created to judge top players in FFR.

Basically just to give a more specific judging system for the top players, not based on how much you can play FFR (total grand score), but rather how well you play FFR's hardest songs.
