Hey, I was just wondering something. If I report a Double Post via the Report Button, will the moderators get around to fixing it?

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
The report button will send a message to all members of staff (I think) which means that they will all read what you have reported.
For something as small as a double post, you really needn't send a report. It's a very small infringement which can actually be pretty humourous in the correct circumstances.
Report button should only be used for big problems like threads which are clearly breaking rules (porn, spam, ads, etc) or posts which are clearly in violation of the rules (again, porn, spam, etc).
edit: oh noes, I are seen.Comment

Two of them is a one-day ban though, isn't it? And I wish a mod would answer this thread. It's the early bird that gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
There is such a thing as taking the rules far too seriously. As I've stated, a double post is such a small thing that it can even happen accidentally. Most of the moderators, in my experience, understand that it can be used sparingly in the correct situations.
It's only really when someone is constantly double posting inappropriately and causing trouble that it is seen as bad.
However the rules could have changed in 6 months and as such this place could be Nazi-paradise and a double post is automatic problem no matter the situation.
In either case, I hope my point still stands.
Anyhoo. Why do you need a moderator to answer this thread? Your question was answered. They get your report and depending on what your report is they either will or won't investigate it. Just don't go abusing the report button for such trivial matters as every single double post you ever see. Otherwise the moderators will have 50 emails a day just saying "this guy double posted" which isn't really a good use of their time moderating the forums.Comment

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
Okay? I kinda wanted a mod to answer because ever Double Post that I have reported has remained unchanged. I'm beginning to wonder whether they check it at all, or if they just ignore the Double Post reports. It's the early bird that gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
Sometimes, as I've stated, a double post is completely viable in the situation. That or it just really isn't causing any problems. If that's the case then a moderator is not going to waste their time. Think about it, how many double posts might occur on this forum per day, dozens? Think about a moderator having to go to every single one and deleting it or fixing it. Too much work that could be spent doing better things around the forum and moderating it better.
Don't report all the double posts you see unless they are clearly breaking the rules (such as ads, spam, porn, etc). Those are the ones that need moderated.
Don't be afraid to use the report function, just try to use common sense. Ask yourself "does this need to be moderated, is it a clear break of the rules?" before using the report function and you might see that your future reports get handled due to their actual necessity.Comment

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
This is probably a very bad discussion to be having in the newbie forum. Most of the answers are along the lines of "double posting is not punished by the mods, even though it's a rule." Haha, anyway, if it really doesn't make a difference, I guess I'll stop worrying about double posts. It's the early bird that gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
He didn't have any problems with it when I asked him. I should have asked a mod about that too, sorry.
By the way, I know this makes me sound like a total retard, but we learned in Latin that egregious means "outstanding". Haha, I'm an idiot. It's the early bird that gets the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Re: "Report" Button and Double Posts
It means outstanding in that it stands out more than other things, i.e. your PM spamming stands out more than a simple double post.
I took Latin too, you can't fool me.Comment
